Making a dubstep/electronic mix album, tell me what you think!
#1
I've gotten a huge love for this type of music lately. When I play Minecraft or games that don't have much dialog, it's all I really listen to. Yet, when driving, I listen to my normal music (though, lately it's been nothing but Linkin Park's "Recharged" heh). And I wanted to make an album for when I take a drive somewhere and just want some different music to listen to.

Listed alphabetically by artist

Approaching Nirvana - "Aurora"
Approaching Nirvana - "Don't Just Stand There"
Avicii - "Levels"
AWOLNATION - "Sail"
Blackmill - "City Lights"
Blackmill - "Lucid Truth"
Blackmill - "Oh Miah"
Deadmau5 - "Ghosts N Stuff"
Deadmau5 - "Not Exactly"
Ellie Goulding - "Lights" (the more I listen to it, it might not make this cut, still love the song though)
Pegboard Nerds - "Self Destruct"
Skrillex - "First of the Year (Equinox)"
TryHardNinja - "Take Back The Night"
Velvetine - The Great Divide (Seven Lions Dub remix)
Zedd - "Spectrum"
Zedd - "Stay The Night (Feat. Hayley Williams)"

I might add some Lindsey Stirling as well.

Want to give me any other suggestions? I'm willing to take a few of these off for others, but this is what I want on mine.

If I want to do a TV show/movie theme remix album, I would use those.

I'm a massive fan of Infected Mushroom. When listening to electronic music, it's always my go-to.(It helps that I mostly listen to metal.)

Old stuff(Most agree their old stuff is their best stuff.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlRLzKDjX1I

Middle Stuff(Their middle stuff is more like what I like): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udM1wOuEtoU

Current Stuff(If you're a fan of modern electronic, like dubstep, I'd start here and possibly work backwards):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yyb3Yp8CqeQ

That last link is their whole newest album, so you can give it a good listen to. Project 100 is ten minutes long, so I'd give it a quick listen, if you enjoy it, listen to Franks next, because that's another great song on the album(Though Legend of the Black Shawarma is my favorite album, so anything works, really.) Ratio Shmatio is my favorite of their older stuff, but I'm not a fan of that period's techno, so there aren't really whole "albums" I enjoy, just specific tracks. If any three generations are notable, lemme know and I'll pick some stuff out for you. You can also eMail me and I can eMail you their albums. I got it all, man.

Some runner-ups:
Savant:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPl81LxJDNg
Savant is great if you love the modern sound. He's also got fantastic stage presence. Savant was a lot of fun to see.

Astrix:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLCybxJU4qM
Astrix isn't anything "special" to me, but often when I game, I actually NEED "nothing special." I just need some background noise while I shoot someone online, or take down a turret, you know? And when in that mood of "I need background noise for my murder spree" I usually pick this album. It doesn't make many risks, but it's not exactly boring. Plus, Track 3 is a remix of an Infected Mushroom song, so it's always a positive in my book.

This song right here came out in 1979, yet it sounds much like the electronic music of today. John Foxx is his name, take a listen.

And he is still active. I highly recommend his past album, Evidence, as John Foxx and The Maths

Emerson, Lake and Palmer are another big influence. I love their instrumental songs more than the their hit singles, just due to how much more they had no inhibitions with it. Some have said this song right here should fit in a video game, which I agree, but which one is the question. Mind you, 1973, everyone. BTW, it goes nuts at the 5 minute mark.

Oh, and about ELP, Koji Kondo, who wrote the scores to multiple LoZ games and SUper Mario, calls them a massive influence.
