A Boy and His Blob (2009) wasn't the first attempt by Majesco at a re-imagining/remake/sequel to the 1990s A Boy and His Blob.
A Boy and His Blob: Jelly's Cosmic Adventure was was being developed by Pipe Dream Interactive (Majesco's in-house development team) and was scheduled to be a Gameboy Advance release in 2002, but was cancelled due to publisher Majesco's financial troubles .
Additionally, in 2005 an A Boy and His Blob remake was being developed for the Nintendo DS. Skyworks Technologies was the developer working with publisher Majesco on this title. Skyworks Technologies was formed by David Crane and Garry Kitchen, creators of the original A Boy and His Blob, in 1995. Once again, Majesco's financial trouble caused cancellation of the game while it was reportedly 20% complete.
