WWF/E Smackdown Just Bring It! Logo
#1
Okay I already submitted this but I used my own source. I don't know if it's gonna get accepted but I might as well prove it on here. The PS2 title WWF:Smackdown Just Bring It platinum box art was changed to a newer logo Smackdown! logo along with the WWF brand name being changed to WWE. It was changed because of the World Wide Fund trademarking the WWF initials in a legal battle against the WWE which at the time was using the WWF initials which stood for World Wrestling Federation. The World Wide Fund won the battle and World Wrestling Federation changed to World Wrestling Entertainment. The change of the logo was due to the fact the they already changed their industry name along with the Smackdown! logo being replaced with the current Smackdown! logo at the time.

The difference between both box arts with the one on the left being the box art that was released in North America and the box art on the right was the platinum edition being released in the UK.

Do you know if there is any difference in the actual game? Or is it just box art?

No, I believe it's just the box art so that way they can re release the game without any legal problems.

I meant more the menus in-game. Such as the title screen, ring-side graphics, etc. - anywhere the logo would have been used.

Unfortunately it's really hard to find any footage or screenshot for the platinum release.

Just box art. Doesn't even have a different logo on the disc.

Can confirm - bought a copy :)

I wonder why they would change only one thing and not any thing else. I know that going in and reprogramming the game to show a different graphic would take a lot of time, but I would expect to see a different logo on the disc.
