So, in short, I've submitted this multiple times, and while having used no less than four sources over four different times, somehow it's not "trivia" because I don't have a developer statement about it. However, I really doubt you need a devolper's quote on these striking similarities.
I'll cut straight to the chase: A lot of Bomberman Hero has elements ripped from Star Wars. Note the video, and I'll explain below:
1:27-2:42 Game's opening cutscene. Note that a space station the size of a planet appears suddenly. Princess Milian attempts to escape with vital information about the enemy but is captured and instead gives the disk to her robot. Sound similar to: Star Wars, where the Death Star, a space Station the size of a small moon, appears. Princess Leia tries to deliver data about the evil Empire (the enemy) and it's space station but is captured. Entrusts the data to 2 robots who escape.
4:30-4:50 Pibot (The princess' robot) crash lands with the data to the planet below. Similar to how R2-D2 and C-3PO crash land on Taatoonie in Star Wars.
8:12-8:50 Pibot, in the desert (of all places) finds Bomberman and tells him to help Princess Milian. Similar to how R2-D2 plays back the message to Obi Wan about Princess Leia needs helps... after being found in the desert.
There's probably more I can find (I do remember the robot being captured and turned into a statue, similar to Han becoming Jabba the Hut's favorite decoration, for example), but I don't really feel like searching through more sloppy Let's Plays to find the videos at the moment.
But, I would say it's safe to say it's at least a little influenced by Star Wars.
Here's other sources that agree:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomberman_Hero
http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/03/09/b...ero-review

I might go through and try to find more references. Anyone else agree with me on this?
