Some may remember that Miyazaki wasn't certain if he should have made Princess Mononoke or Boro the CaterpillarĀ back in the day, and was ultimately convinced to do the former by producer and third co-founder of Studio Ghibli, Toshio Suzuki. The film has been a short in the Ghibli Museum since 2001 but this film is set to be full length and if all goes as planned, will be out before the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

This is third time he came out of retirement. It goes to show you that you can't bring the art down from an animator. This should be good.

Haha, this is why I started not to take his "retirement" announcements seriously. Good. I want him to keep making amazing movies for as long as he's able to.

This is actually the 6th or 7th time he's coming out of retirement. If memory serves, there was Ponyo, Whisper of the Heart, Princess Mononoke, this time and then I don't remember what else.
