Garry's Mod?
#1
I dont much about this game, but alot of my friends keep recommending it to me. So I was wondering if anyone can explain a little more about this game. I was thinking about getting it since its on sale on steam. So is it worth the money?

If you have counterstrike source then yes, if not then no.

Its a sandbox game that takes models from other games.

Correction, you can play Garry's Mod as long as you own at least one Source game. The most common being Half-Life 2.

W/O it, you can't play any of the games that use its assets. As it is the main source game with "realistic" firearms, its used in a lot of Garry's Mod content.

Counter-Strike: Source being the common game needed because majority if not all of the gametypes within Garry's Mod requires CS:S. You need a source game to play GM, but you need CS:S to play all the fun gametypes within the mod.

But enjoy it! It's lots of fun. One thing I recommend highly is Gmod Tower .

Will which game you got influence what resources you are able to use?

I mean if I got TF2 and get GMOD, will I then be able to use HL2 resources?

Eh, Chow, the last posy for this before yours was over half a year ago. Try not to necrobump things like that.

But if he has a question why would he make a new thread when there already is one with the same exact topic? There are no rules against posting in old threads.

To answer your question, yes, the games you have will dictate what sources you are able to use. If you don't have HL2 you won't be able to use any of its character models etc.
