A game belonging to multiple series
#1
Unlike a crossover series like Super Smash Bros. or Marvel vs. Capcom, there are some games that belong to multiple series which are not part of a unique standalone franchise but are generally just one-offs.

Games for example like Street Fighter x Mega Man, which is least likely to become its own series, belongs to both the Mega Man and Street Fighter series. Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage and Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy both belong to the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro series. Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman! belongs to both the Wario and Bomberman series. Battletoads & Double Dragon belongs to both the Battletoads and Double Dragon series.

One game which is on the VG Facts site, Final Fantasy Legend II, belongs to both the Final Fantasy and SaGa series.

If it's possible, any game which comes under this situation could we please have them listed as part of the two series which they belong to? eg. Like how on the game's page it lists the multiple platforms it's on and developers, have it listed like this: "Final Fantasy, SaGa" with them linked to their individual series pages.

This is something we spent a while discussing during development and we opted not to allow multiple series. The cases where it's relevant are so few and far between that it really didn't make sense. In most cases, giving a game like that its own series is fine. Assigning it to whichever series is most relevant (as is the case with Final Fantasy Legend II at the moment) is also okay.

I realize this isn't optimal but it was a decision we made early on after careful consideration and it's one we'll be sticking to as these situations will not come up often.

Okay then. But when it will come down to picking a series for Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage & Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy, Battletoads & Double Dragon, and Street Fighter x Mega Man, which series would you go by when say both have a 50/50 share in the game and remain the same in all regions?

Well, ultimately the Crash and Spyro games can be listed seperately, because they aren't actually the exact same game. Battle Toads & Double Dragon was a Battletoads game, and Street Fighter x Mega Man I would list as a Mega Man game, since you play as him, and it is less about the Street Fighter characters and more about Mega Man.

Those are my personal thoughts. But ultimately, you can just list them as the game titles.

I agree with Dazz, but I thought we'd just list it under both series, like how some games have [X thing] in [X game] from [X game's sequel] and vice-versa, and it's listed in both games. idk though.

A game can only be associated with a single series so what you wanted to do there isn't actually possible.
