King's Field, the game (and series) that is often considered From Software's later Souls series' spiritual predecessor, got an official remake on PC in 2000 with the release of Sword of Moonlight: King's Field Making Tool. The remake was a sample project within the program but it was a complete, full remake of the 1994 Playstation game. Sadly this release, just like the original game, was a Japan exclusive and has since become almost impossible to get a hold of and find ample information on.
Just to prove I'm not merely using the mention on Wikipedia as my source for this, it is also mentioned on the Sword of Moonlight Wiki and at the very end of the game's page on HardcoreGaming101.
You can also download the English patch for the game here: http://agetec.yuku.com/topic/1827#.VWsmeEYpon8
