Fox is planning a live-action Megaman movie

So this just made me get my nerves off of the BS thats on Tom Brady(I'll save that topic for the vent thread) but Fox has announced that they're planning a live-action movie. Now. I don't mind the idea of a Mega man film for live-action unless if its handled correctly. But I'm not having very high hopes with Fox making this, unless if they can pull a Deadpool with this, they're just going to make this add up to the live-action Resident Evil movies(critics hating it, fans of the game series hating it, having it done by someone who never played the games, and being successful at the box office). I'm probably the only one who wants an animated film of Megaman since in a case like this, animation just screams for Megaman.

Your thoughts?

Part of me thinks this will be good, the other part thinks its gonna end badly. I just want them to pull a Deadpool with this and make it awesome and true to what its based on compared to what they did to a different property(cough Fantastic four cough).

I have mix feelings about this. On one hand, we have Fox Entertainment, which I have a rocky relationship with as is (having an overblown propaganda news and not being the best at keeping Sci-Fi things alive (which dooms the blue bomber out of the gate), but gave programs that I loved as a kid (Power Rangers, Digimon, and X-Men) a home in the form of Fox Kids). I really don't want them to see how many fans Mega Man has, only see the amount of money they could get, and turn it into something that makes Captain N's Mega Man look classy. I don't want Fox to treat Rock like Capcom has for the last few years.

On the other hand, we are getting a Mega Man movie. And not a Fan-made, unofficial movie either. We are getting a official movie with Capcom's permission that will be shown on the big screen. I am hyped as shit to see who gets to play Rock and how thier going to pull it off.

Really, I don't think that Fox is the right company to produce it. When I think of Fox doing a Mega Man movie, first thing that came to mind was Power Rangers and how they had no idea what they were doing. I think Lion's Gate or New Line Cinema would be better. What would be 10X better would be an animated version drawn with the help of Keiji Inafune.

I have the similar feeling towards Fox myself. To be honest, it is going to be all dependent on whether Fox has the creativity to make something as massive as Mega Man.

As a big fan of my homeboy Megaman, I honestly don't want a film adaptation. It's just a huge waste of time(be it animated or live -action, though I'm hyped for the upcoming cartoon!) because vidja games just isn't compatible with the big screen.

And also, you guys are taking studio credibility TOO seriously. All studios are the same PERIOD.There all just amoral pricks who only see the dollar signs and ALL studios have huge duds like all the time. It all comes down to hiring the right people but it seems that all studios just can't get it right so far.

Can't say I agree with that latter point, even slightly. Studio Ghibli never had a time where it was in a slump, and honestly, despite how people complained, Disney made it their slump with no problem, so it's not as you say.

About the movie itself, no matter who is making it, it's stupid. Mega Man is not a live action hero, there is no one alive who I can think of that would be able to play his role, yet alone the rest of them, and unless we later find it out it's attached to a new game Ala Ratchet and Clank, it's not going to win anyone over.

Just being a movie based on a video game there will be a 50/50 chance it'll be awful.

Well yeah, but when I was mentioning "all studios", I only really meant the Hollywood-esque big brand studios corporation and not foreign big brand studios because they are in a different league all by themselves.

Also, while Disney did surpass its slump, it doesn't mean that thier recent films were all successful(tomorrowland being the recent dud).

With all the movies Disney has rights to, an occasional unsuccessful film is to be expected, especially with a company like them were animation and superhero films are their bread and butter. If they didn't have the rare bad film, one would have to wonder how they are cheating the system, for lack of a better term. Fox on the other hand, hasn't really created anything without the help of an outside studio that everyone universally likes for at least this year, and superhero films being as big as they are and Fox not being able to handle of the best teams ever isn't exactly helping their sadly failing reputation.

Like I said, people are reading way too much in studios, especially Hollywood studios. It seems that one massive flop(Fant4stic) instantly let us forget that Fox frickin made Kingsmen, a rated-r comic book film or Birdman for that matter. All hollywood studios have flops but it's usually an occasional flop. Now if we were talking about Relatively Media (that actually has a sadly failing reputation), I would agree with you.

If by Kingsman you mean that film that is half discount MIB and half discount every attempt to duplicate a James Bond film, I wouldn't exactly call that a good film, even if it was successful, If anything, that movie makes me more worried because it was more predictable than X-men Origins: Wolverine which is just not a good sign. Also, Birdman is pretty overrated if you ask me. I don't agree with any of it's current overall ratings.

I would like to hear why you didn't like them extensively and retort why their hella good extensively but then we would be peering off from the actual topic.

So... I don't want Hollywood touching Megaman, even if it's the greatest thing to ever come out of movie history.

Coincidentally both Kingsman and MIB are based on comics from Marvel's subsidiaries. Kingsman is from Icon and MIB from Malibu.
