The events in Solstice happen on the eve of the Winter Solstice. The events of Equinox happen years after the events of Solstice, but it's not stated, in the Equinox instruction manual if the events happen during a Solstice or Equinox.
In Japan, Equinox was named Solstice 2. The reason for naming the U.S. and EU versions as Equinox may just be a play on words , considering solstice and equinoxes determine the beginning of spring, summer, autumn, and winter and have to do with the position and distance between the Earth and Sun.
