I like to consider that ending is exclusive to the people that don't finish OOT for one reason or another, and I imagine there are a lot of them.

When I think endings I think credit reel. If I don't see the reel then that's not an official ending. Although that is an interesting theory.

Man, even with the official timeline, it's still a goddamn mess. I've talked hours about the vast amount of inconsistencies this thing has.

Skyward Sword being the earliest game in the timeline is probably the biggest problem. Like Cody said, it really poops all over the timeline. For one, it has the most technologically advanced things we've seen in Zelda game, and somehow none of the games that take place after it seemingly have any of those things. Where are the robots, mine carts, or time stones? Those were all on the surface, which is supposed to be Hyrule, so what happened to them?

On top of that, it destroys the set up that the Minish Cap has. The Minish Cap sets up a Picori hero who wears a green tunic, which is why Link dresses in a green tunic (because he wants to be a hero). He gets Ezlo, a talking hat, and then we finally see Link in the iconic hat and tunic. When Link completes his adventure, he proclaimed a hero, and gets a standard green hat. He is then put up as the great hero of Hyrule, which was supposed to be part of the reason Link always wears a green tunic and hat, as to resemble to great heroes of the past. However, Skyward Sword comes along and Link just wears the tunic and hat anyway, like it was all for nothing. And you can't even really argue that this Link is supposed to the hero of legend seen in Minish Cap, as he was stated to be a Picori, not a Hylian.

Also, the amount of the Link is super odd. Like, Zelda 1 and 2 have the same Link; Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask also have the same Link; Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass also have the same Link; but on top of that, the Link of A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and the Oracle games are all the same guy. Also Oddly, the Link of the Minish Cap and Four Swords are the same, but the Link of Four Sword Adventures isn't the same guy. Also for some reason, the Link of A Link Between Worlds and Triforce Heroes is the same guy, yet they look nothing alike.

Also there's the fact that where these games go is seemingly chosen at random. There isn't anything really connecting a lot of these games together, other than the same Link or Ganon appearing in them. Like how many of these games could we definitively say take place at a certain time period relative to another game (using only what the game provides). I count Majora's Mask, Zelda II, Phantom Hourglass, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Spirit Tracks. 6. Six games in this series can you definitely put somewhere. And that's not even in the grand scheme of things. It's simply where they go relative to another game in the series.

Sorry for the wall of text, the Zelda timeline just kind of bothers me. Like good that they tried to make one, I just don't think it even needed to be made.

(Also don't wanna be that guy, but I called the fact that there were 3 timelines in 2011 in which the "Wind Waker" games had their own timeline, and even thought I was an idiot. Who's laughing now?!)
