Playstation Vita Thread

Any Vita owners here, or is it just me? I love mine... like #1 fan groupie love, lol. I won't lie.

I got it last February with Rayman: Origins and Hotshots Golf (which were both awesome), before I moved to a new state, because I couldn't bring my consoles and stuff with me. It's had it's ups and downs, but I really enjoy it and have a ton of games and stuff for it.

Got a 32GB card:

...a Waterfield Suede Sleeve for it, made in San Francisco:

...an official portable charger, that adds 8 hrs of battery life:

...the charging standing (good for pretending it's a TV, too):

...an import-only, official 24-game case by Hori:

...and this huge Microfiber XL cloth by Antec specifically for it, that I feel compelled to include:

Hey, at least I didn't buy two Vita's just to get a white one, right? :P

If you wanna know what's good on it and what's coming out on it, ask me for sure. I'm a total cheerleader for the Vita, I keep up on it all the time, and there's a lot more out/coming out for it than you might think.

I wish all PSP games would be either combatible with it or even available for it but alas...

And that is why I bought a 3DS.

I have a PS Vita and I am proud to own one. I play it everyday and just enjoy it. I hate Netflix on it though cause it never works. Games I currently own are MGS HD Collection, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Playstation All Stars, Wipeout and the game I am currently playing and I suggest PS Vita owners to get it Disgaea 3.

I have a Vita and really glad that I got one, not just because of the cross buy option either. The handheld is actually really good with probably one of the best handheld screens that I have ever known (along with the Wiz, obscure Korean handheld that runs emulators). Yes, I have Gravity Rush (the game that people always mention first on the console, either that or Persona 4), WipEout 2048, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Everybody's Golf, Virtua Tennis 4, LittleBigPlanet PSVita as well as the really good ports of Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Not just the retail games but also downloadable games such as The Pinball Arcade, Jetpack Joyride, Alien Breed, PlayStation All-Stars, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (all of them free), Super Stardust Delta and the almost complete but much better than the retail version of Ridge Racer with only the Daytona car and a couple of music tracks as paid DLC. Well it was on sale and worked out cheaper to get that one than it is for the very bare bones retail version. It is the only console that I have ever known that gave me free games, well unless you count Chu Chu Rocket on the Dreamcast (hmm...). I have already used up my 4GB memory card that came with the system and got myself an 8 GB one and nearly used that up too but should be good enough for now.

My only concern are the games (and the memory card prices but that is another thing) and little is planned in the future. Apart from Soul Sacrifice that seems to be the big game after selling like hotcakes in Japan, Tearaway, MotoGP (hopefully Milestone can make this one good), Killzone and the indies that I'm glad are coming out just for that needed boost; there doesn't seem to be anything which is a shame cause the Vita could do with the support since it is a handheld that does things right and learnt from the mistakes of the PSP (the UMD drive, the half focus on movies/TV shows) but with people focusing on the Yellow Peril that is phone gaming and some of the big guns just focusing on PS4/new Xbox/PC gaming meaning that fewer developers would support the console. Some big names like Sega, Konami, Capcom, Take Two (that's Rockstar and 2K Games), Namco, Square-Enix, EA (boo) having little to no support on the system or have supported it but looks like they might not in the future. To be honest, I think only Sony and Warner Bros supported the console quite well with Tecmo Koei doing decently since it seems to be one of them 3 that are releasing anything, well more in Japan in terms of Tecmo Koei.

Even if Sony said that they will discontinue the Vita tomorrow (I hope not but have to be realistic for the future), it will be fine since it has not as much licensed/cheaply made shovelware compared to phones, PC, Wii, DS (later stage), PS2 (later stage) where there are a ton of them and while the library is smaller compared to most systems (probably the likes of the Virtual Boy, Lynx, 32X and the Wii U so far [but will increase in the future] having less than the Vita), it is full of quality with fewer bad games with Resistance Vita, Call of Duty Black Ops Vita [same developer], Lego Batman 2, Spy Hunter [both 3DS ports that don't take advantage of the graphical increase] and arguably WRC 3 [due to 3.3 GB filesize restriction] being the weakest games on the system.

The only thing that I would like on it if I have to choose is Gran Turismo Vita really but just can't see Polyphony make one after all the PSP and the PS3 ones were meant to be launch titles and ended up being released 3 years later.

Bloody hell, that must've cost a lot.

I plan on getting a Vita but there is NOTHING worth getting for it. Maybe Gravity Rush but nothing else.

There are a few games for the Vita I want, but I don't like that the price tag hasn't dropped on the system after it being a year old. I could replace my Xbox for cheaper.

Not even the Uncharted game? Because if I had Vita those two would propably be the only games I'd have for it.

I'm also exicted for Final Fantasy HD remakes. That will add more time to play with my Vita.

I played it and felt it extremely meh. Even for the Vita it's not worth it.

I would get one but it get's kinda tiring when the only good thing you hear about is :

"OMGarz, you should get because it has SECOND analog stick and it's in HD and it has a SECOND analog stick which is the only reason why you should get it and better than that gimmicky nintencrap 3ds because it doesn't have a second analog stick, durr durr"

I love the gaming world when the only reason to buy a system is because they have a second analog stick instead of what it offers.

Though Assassin's Creed Liberation is starting to get to me....

Wait, they're going on how gimmicky the 3DS is? Er... are they even aware of the second touch screen in the back? Because if that doesn't seem as gimmicky as the 3D feature, then I don't know what is.

Just moved this week and my internet was off for a few days at the new place... so I couldn't respond to anything here :/

Yeah, I looked back on all the stuff I've gotten for it and on it, and realized I spent way too much last year. I'll just look at it as the one system I collect and focus on since I don't have my huge collection anymore.

Here's what's good that's come out so far:

Pretty crazy first year or so, for me. Gravity Rush is definitely the premier exclusive, but Little Big Planet Vita is actually the best LBP game, believe it or not. Hot Shots Golf is my jam, and this game called Smart As (that Sony didn't market at all smh) is criminally underrated imo.

I own about 90% of the good games released. I'm not a big Uncharted fan, but I got the game free on PS+, and I'll play it someday. Some of the stuff I have, like Rock Boshers DX, isn't even listed on Metacritic, but I dig it.

Even getting MGS2&3HD in portable form was a must-have title for me. Steam indies are the same because they're so good, but I would just prefer to have/play on my Vita. If I could get every game I love on one little system like this, I would.

Here's what I know is upcoming:

I'm gonna get Soul Sacrifice & Guacamelee this month, and I'm mega excited about Dragon's Crown, Tearaway, Phantasy Star Online 2, and Muramasa Rebirth because I never owned a Wii. Same for Spelunky coming from 360. Any of the Steam ports I'd rather play on my Vita 'cause I just like to play on it, and I'll even get Walking Dead again, just to have it portable.

I know this is completely off topic but I have to say, the Circle Pad Pro really makes the whole system a lot better.

I watched a video of the Wiz before. Was pretty neat. I've been considering ebaying an unopened First Edition Bundle Vita just to keep one with the earliest firmware version possible, for when the time is right.

Pinball Arcade is my jam. I went crazy on DLC for that and Zen Pinball 2. I got Motorstorm RC totally free and that game was sick. I never get to take advantage of cross-buy because I try and get anything I can on physical media, so if I want something like Sly Cooper on Vita, I just buy the Vita version. I do like getting crossbuy on stuff like Sound Shapes & Retro City Rampage, and all my DLC for pinball & LBP, though.

I do have PS+ and nearly everything I've bought digitally has had a 30-50% discount, but I'm usually too impatient and get them the day they come out. Then 2-4 weeks later it's on sale and I have to just let it slide. If I was smarter with it, I'd be making out big time.

I actually fill up my 32GB a lot, because of my old PSOne and PSP games, so I get really annoyed when anything doesn't get a physical release in the US if it did in Japan (ie: New Little King's Story, Dokuro, Fish On etc). They need to drop the prices on cards MAJORLY and then make a 64 GB card for me. Memory prices should be 8GB/$10 - 16GB/$20 - 32GB/$30 - 64GB/$50-60
