Dr. Ralph Stanley, founding father of Bluegrass music, passed away
#1
Dr. Ralph Stanley, founding father of Bluegrass music, has passed away at age 89. He sang as part of The Stanley Brothers and The Clinch Mountain Boys.
His Appalachian dirge, "O, Death", is a part of the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou as is The Stanley Brothers version of the traditional song "Angel Band"; he sang many other southern gospel songs. Another song in O Brother, Where Art Thou, "Man of Constant Sorrow" is a song made popular in the 1950's by the Stanley Brothers (sung by The Soggy Bottom Boys) (published in 1913 by Dick Burnett).

If you haven't seen O Brother, Where Art Thou, stop what you are doing and go get it. It's in my top 10 list.
