That being said most things relating to Silent Hill tend to suck.

Any reason in particular?

I have, and managed to get the good ending. It's one of the games that disturbed me the most. Why? For the crooked man itself. Just think about him creeps me the fuck out!

That also happens to me with Slender. I think that that's the game that scared me the most in my life.

I have not played the Crooked Man, but I've seen it. Also, agreed on the Slender. Those games really creep me out as well.

Suggestion: Go get Amnesia. Both of you.

Slender? Pfft. Try the original SCP games. I was told by practiacally everyone on the internet at one point that SCP-087 was the scariest game ever made. What I got was a stair simulator. To this day, I have no idea what scared people in that thing. I even tried the second one, SCP-087-B, and yet again I got a simulator, this time on hallways. I guess it was a maze, who knows.

Yeah, I played it. It's also very scary, but it doesn't scare me THAT much (talking about the original story, not custom maps). I guess it's because when the monsters kill you, when you're back, they're gone.

That gives me some kind of 'safe' feeling.

Most just tend to completely ignore lore or just completely rewrite it. Also the newer games just tend to have lazy design in them, which is sad because the first several games in the series have very intricate design in them.

Although I must say, Downpour is surprisingly good.

I've seen enough of Amnesia to know I wouldn't enjoy it. I've made a point to avoid it because I'm sick of seeing it everywhere.

Has anyone here played ObsCure? Would you recommend it? Pretty much all I know about it is that it has co-op, which interests me. May buy it sooner or later.

EDIT: Actually I just did, for 5€, immediately after posting this :D Still I wouldn't mind hearing some opinions.

Dead Space 2, by far, has to be my favourite horror game. I dont have many horror games (RE2, RE 5 and 6, Dead Space 2 and 3)

But 3 out of 5 of those arn't scary at all...

My favorite horror video game, would have to be the remake of Splatterhouse. Its like playing a horror film that met up with a grindhouse movie. Let alone that Jim Cummings steals the show while he voices the terror mask. Resident evil 4 is a good horror game as well(although the escorting mission that is part of the game is a real pain).

While not on the veins of being a straight-up horror(while its got the creepy supernatural feel to it) Luigi's Mansion is a good horror game. I remember playing Goosebumps: Attack of the mutant on the pc when I was a kid. I was a bit scared of the game though.

It arrived! I may get to co-op it tomorrow.

I didn't get to co-op it then but I played it yesterday with friends. Man, that game isn't easy. Trying to keep all your characters alive is a pain. Otherwise, it's pretty cool and fun.

I guess it wasn't labeled as horror but LIMBO is a creepy scary game sometimes, especially when you think about the fact that you are in control of a little boy and he gets impaled, stabbed, drowned, crushed, sliced and diced, even poisoned by psychos with blowguns (tried running and whacked in the head and just slumped down. I've seen some gory stuff over the years, God of War being a good example, but this game is by far the most vicious when it comes to death).

Then you put in that giant spider that comes in and out of the place from time to time and you have a very creepy game. Bugs in general are good for the scary/creepy factor.

I do, personally, count Limbo as a horror game :P I've never played through it myself but I've seen a full LP of it.

Depends. The latest Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider were pretty gruesome.

EDIT: Interestingly enough, neither of those were horror games.

If anyone is interested in trying out the most generic horror game ever made, check out Dementium for the DS.

I also love the fact that they knew the controls are terrible and you'd lose health constantly due to that so they left health pickups all over the place.

Despite all that, the game is strangely compelling. I keep finding myself going back to it time and time again.
