One of the many obtainable items throughout the Castlevania series is the Stone Mask which first appeared in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It is an equippable item that adds to the player's Defense (And in SOTN only, their Intelligence as well.)
The item also has a description generally reading "Used in Aztec rituals" or "Ceremonial stone mask"
The Stone Mask is a reference to the manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, wherein the Stone Mask (An important relic in Part 1 "Phantom Blood" and Part 2 "Battle Tendency") was indeed crafted by the Aztecs and could create vampires. It was most notable in turning famous series villain Dio Brando into a vampire.
