It probably doesn't really count since it is actually sort of popular, but only 2 of my 159 Steam friends own it so screw it, buy Torchlight 2 when it's on sale on Steam. Seriously, it's amazing. It's pretty much Diablo 3 where they didn't fuck up, and it has more classes, items, abilities, and no DRM or Real-world-money crap. You can also mod it to your liking and have up to 6 for online co-op.
Wait for it to go on sale, usually it's only $5-$10, normally it's $20, and try out the free demo.

Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories for the original Playstation.
I was crazy into Yu-Gi-Oh back in the day, so having a proper console title just about blew my mind. Gameplay keeps even people who didn't play the card game/watch the cartoon interested by introducing a fusion mechanic you could implement without the need for the polymerization. Only real problem with the game is that is was so damn hard!
You could only obtain more powerful cards by beating NPCs in Free Duel mode and hope that after a 5-10 minute battle your efforts would be rewarded. Unfortunately, 99% of the time this wasn't the case. You'd have to battle the same NPC dozens and dozens of times before they'd give you a single good card (and one good card does not a deck make). Eventually you'd have to suffer through the worst grinding experience I've ever encountered just to beat one duelist back in Story Mode.

I remember that, was really fun against my brother. Worst part was, if you typed in the code for a card that was well known, like say, Summoned Skull, or Blue-eyes, it cost literally the maximum amount of star points possible (I think it was 99999999).(you could get a maximum of 5 star points per duel) Trick was knowing Jirai Gumo's code. It only cost 80 star points.

You all need to play Sin and Punishment: Star Successor right now. It's a Wii sort-of on rails shooter but not really since you can move around. It's hard to explain, go watch a few videos about it, but it's insanely fun and it sold like crap for some reason. You can still find new copies at major retailers for like five bucks in bargain bins, don't pass it up, it's really fun.

It's also a sequel to a Japanese only N64 game simply called Sin and Punishment (or Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth. Not sure which). I hear it's like the Wii one but I have never played ether one so I can not say. It's on the Wii virtual contsal, so you can play it if you want, but I believe that it does not have English voices. Again, never played it, so I can't say.

I've played through ROMs of the first Sin and Punishment. Hard game, but such an AMAZING game. Only released in Japan with full English voice acting... and no Japanese voice acting what so ever...

Twinkle Tale for the MegaDrive (only in japan), it's a pedestrian shooter like Pocky&Rocky:

You know, I could pretty much just list all Resident Evil spinoffs here. People rarely tend to even check them because they think everything spinoff is bad. And then they dare to call themselves fans.

I really wish the guy who made the God account was still here. I found it legitimately interesting that someone else still played forbidden memories.

Oh but I LOVE Gaiden :D I've played through it multiple times and even made a Let's Play/Walkthrough on it.
For a full list of spinoffs that should get more recognition to everyone uneducated: Outbreak, Outbreak File#2, Confidential Report, Survivor, Dead Aim, Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles, Operation Raccoon City, Degeneration and, yes, Gaiden.

Fun fact. My favorite RE game, RE3, was called Gaiden when it was in development.
