First console I ever owned myself was a PS1 I believe. My mother got it for me when it was cheap, it was one of those PSones or whatever they were called. I had a Demo Disc, Harry Potter, Beyblade and Action Man. The PS1 was a pretty meh console to me because of it.

Never had a PS2 until 2014, and I never had a PS3 until 2012 (which came with backwards compatibility which was nice)

PS1 was a cool console, I wish I played it a bit more and had some gud games for it as well.

Its still one of my favorites just for its rich library of jrpgs. Its the same reason I like the DS and 3DS.

Wake me up when the PS2 turns 20.

I did not have any PS1 games before, like, 2001 or so. Even then I never really like any of the games aside from the small library I had at the time (most of which I either lost or sold). My parents tought that the N64 was better so that's what I had.

Even now, I think the PS2 is better in every way, but we all have to start somewhere.

Happy birthday Playstation brand. I am happy to have you around.

PS1 is what really made me into a gamer, before that it was NES, SNES and N64. Didn't even know it existed till my brother was playing with it on Christmas Eve and I thought "Huh, what's this?"

But PS1 and all the cool awesome games that went with it (mostly the RPG/JRPG games). Without it, never would have been introduced to FF games or Chrono Trigger and Cross, or even Legend of the Dragoon. Best games I've ever played and still play from time to time.

I give Sony and EA credit for the free games. I've never played mirror's edge, and know I get to play it for free. I'm down for that.

The PlayStation was the first console I've ever owned  I got it back in '99 as a birthday gift. It had a modchip soldered into its circuit board, so it was able to run burned discs. I recall having well over 250 games for it. From movie-based games, to first instalments, to triple A titles  you name it. The PlayStation's induction truly marked a pivotal point in video game history; shifting focus from cartridge to CD format, as well as from 2D to 3D gameplay. I lost the console a long time ago, but I have vowed to try to find a legitimate copy of every game I've ever owned for it, so I can relive those gaming experiences I once had as a child. Here's to 20 years of PlayStation with perhaps one of the best start-ups in console gaming:
