The Chit Chat Thread: 2 (Electric Boogaloo?)
I wouldn't mind it snowing in tomorrow. Give me an extra day to get ready for math stuff.
So...I'm moving in a little more than a month.
Ugh, it's time to pack EVERYTHING and be super stressed throughout the entire processes...also there's school tommorow....
This morning, Patrick had to take me to the emergency room. (I'm fine now.)

Thursday night I started getting sick. Due to my profession (they don't take too kindly to you being sick. It loses them money. They are much more interested in money than your health) and the fact that we're still catching up with our bills and don't have too much money, I did what most people do- I grabbed some medicine out of the cabinet and went about my business. But I got worse and worse and worse.

My whole body has ached, and my skin was pained when touched. Like that feeling when you foot falls asleep, except imagine that but so painful that you pull away from whatever is touching you, whether it be a shirt, a wall you're leaning against, or your husband :( My head has been feeling full of gunk. And when I swallow, it feels like my throat is closing with knives, AND simultaneously it feels like i'm getting stabbed in my ears. Also, my temperature is all fucked up. I have experienced all combinations of the following- extreme shivers, extreme sweating, burning up (fully clothes and unclothed), freezing cold (fully clothes and unclothed). Sometimes I feel both temperatures at once. Sometimes, I can't actually tell if i'm hot or cold.

This morning, I was in so much pain, all I could do was sit up in bed and start crying. Patrick took me to the emergency room. They concluded that I have a virus. I got 2 hardcore shots, and got 2 serious prescriptions. I can't go back to work until Friday. Since the shots and medicine, I have already been feeling better. I can now eat without fear. I have been so hungry, but it's been so hard to eat because of my throat and the stabbing feeling. And I can move around better. The fast few days, i've had to be very careful with my movements. Everything I touched hurt me (even putting on clothes), I would move slow because I hurt so bad, and if I stood too long I would lose my balance.

So, that's why I haven't gotten online very often in the past few days, and why I haven't updated the weekly question. Just giving you guys an update.

[I had all of that in a spoiler box, but every time I clicked it, it would take me to the top of the page instead of opening, and that was pissing me off.]
I'm sorry to hear that, Cuccos, and I'm glad that you're feeling better.
Glad you're doing alright Cuccos. No need getting hurt. Also, the spoiler thing actually still works just fine. You just have to revisit it. That's a known issue but its only like that upon submission and at no other time.
Glad you're okay, Cuccos.

So, after all the forecasted snow changed to forecasted ice, Tennessee got plenty of ice. The state has now declared a state of emergency. My co-worker/neighbor and I stayed up late last night watching tree limbs fall, hear the cracks of more fall that we couldn't see, and listening to the boom and watching the flashing lights of transformers blow.
After the power went out, a some people I know went to Facebook asking someone to go check on some elderly family members (with not very passable roads in some areas). It turns out they live on the street behind mine, so all I had to do is go for a short walk.
I was ready to get on my bicycle and ride around town helping on any way I could (although my wife was against it concerned for my safety, but she never said anything to stop me).

Glad you're okay there Cuccos, it must be horrible to have to live like that, especially since you're in a difficult spot since you can't go to the hospital unless it's a do or die situation.

Spoilers do work, I had the same problem. You need to reload the page.

Thanks for the kinds words and tips on the spoiler tags!

That's super awesome of you. Just be super careful!

When Hurricane Ike hit, it was TERRIBLE. It was second only to Katrina. However, because we're Texas, the media and government didn't think it was too important. Everyone hates Texas for some reason.
Anyway, my dad and some of his friends got on some four wheelers and cut down trees that were blocking roads and helped clear debris. They did it without any officials asking them to help, as is a bunch of others.

It hit us late at night. The eye went straight over our house. That is some creepy shit. For those that down now, the eye of the hurricane is the empty spot right in the middle that you see in pictures. Here's how it works- when the eye hits, everything just fucking STOPS. It does NOt slow down first. It doesn't ease itself down. No. ALL winds just STOP. Then everything is dead still. Well, when the other side hits, everything just picks up right where it left off. Literally. The winds come right the fuck back. No easing up to speed. Oh no. They START at however many miles they were when they stopped. Which felt to be about 972624849236 miles per hour. Shit was awesome and terrifying.

Galveston and Kemah, two amazing tourist/vacation spots, were completely destroyed. Did celebrities come out and help us like they did Katrina? No. Was there any other media around other that local like Katrina? No. Did we get any visits from campaigning politicians like Katrina? No. All because we live in Texas? Yes.

We lost power a few hours into the storm. We went without power for 12 days. However, the shopping centers and malls were up within a few days -_- I wonder why? (Hint: $$$$$$$)

Anyway, it's always good to be able to take care of your own. That pretty much all I was saying. Sometimes being sick gets me rambling. Good job, Kid.
Thanks. I credit my parents and family for raising be right.
Cuccos - Here's to hoping you're ok ! I don't understand employers who put their business in front of the health of those that keep it alive...

Kakariko (et al) - Be safe ! AND MOISTURISE. Cold does bad things to your skin. I always keep my Nivea in my work bag because even a nice little -10C(14F) can cause frostbite before you know it.
Hey, Karakiro, stay toasty.

I remember Katrina and Ike hitting. The extent of damage in some areas was pretty shocking. I live in a high pressure zone so the worst we got both times was a few blown out windows and fences, but the road out in front of the neighborhood told the tale for everyone else. See, the road out front has two distinct features. It meets up with the highway, and there's 3+ intersections in less than a mile. Its somewhat of an anomaly for how spacious the area was back then. Those poor people didn't move for days. What's real interesting actually is that due to the events of Katrina, the population of former Louisianans jumped a bit. I guess some people just liked what they saw.

Get better soon Cuccos :)
If any of y'all are ever thinking about your lifestyle choices and start asking "what am I doing with my life", I just had one of those moments.
Because I'm looking at getting a new microwave at 11 at night in Wal-Mart.
Just thought everyone would like to know.
Hey man, new microwave is a big deal. You don't even know man!
My microwave went up almost a month ago. It was good but the magic smoke that made it work was coming out of it. My new one is nice and all, but I miss simplicity of my old one. At lest this one isn't going to risc starting an electric fire when we use it.
