A coup d'etat in all its glory. Not surpised. Well yeah a little. The president is not that great since he wants to transform Turkey in a more conservative country, more religious, etc.

Simply put, Erdogan wants to push more towards radicalism, but the army supports Ataturk's origins, vision for a secular Turkey. Cue coup.

I keep seeing people claiming the coup in Turkey was staged to a degree. I'm not sure how valid that claim is, but there's been a lot of crackdowns since it happened, and its kind of scary.
