You were under any impression he'd veto it? Its one of those things that's been universally hated but supported because of business connections.

Bizarrely enough,there is a court case going on RIGHT now in Russia involving Jehovah's Witnesses, another group that was imprisoned in the same camps in Germany.  They were also banned in 1940s Russia and sentenced to Siberia, where they were not released until the 90s and many given full pardons by the Russian government.
Oddly enough, despite having been banned and pardoned once now, it looks like Russia wants to do it again.
Basically freedom of sexuality and freedom of religion are both under assault in Russia as we speak.
