This just in. Illumination entertainment and Nintendo have settled the deal of bringing Mario to the big screen for an animated movie.  Now. I personally have thought an animated Mario movie would be good(if executed right). I'm kinda skepitcal about Illumination doing the film. I'm not a big fan of that studio. I hope that Nintendo would be on watch for Illumination on this so it can be like the peanuts movie(so that they can give the studio the 'dos and donts' and have it be very spot on to the source material). This is a big thing that everyone has been waiting for a long time. If this doesn't do well, it would likely make Nintendo not allow anyone to adapt their games to animation at all.

Thoughts?

i'm more than happy to hear it's going to be animated, but i don't think illumination is really the right studio to do this. i heard miyamoto is going to be the producer though, which is good

I’m not comfortable with the idea of this being made by the Illuminati. Be careful of the brainwash.

Being serious for a second, this is a bad idea. Illumination entertainment has become so obsessed with trying to recreate the first Despicable Me since it came out, that every project they've done since has suffered in one regard or another. I would have preferred if Nintendo could have stuck with a Japanese animation studio for this, and honestly, Miyamoto-san worries me as well. We all treat him like a god, but he has in the past shut down interesting ideas and stories for the sake of his ideals, and keeping things simple and if he does it here, the movie will be bad because of him. There's nothing about this that seems like a good idea to me.

Woah woah woah, you telling me that we might get a Super Mario / Minions cross-over?
Our prayers have truly been answered.

I think that's as close as we ever need to get honestly.

Bumping it since its officially happening. As I assumed. Nintendo is on board with this. So maybe, just maybe, this will be good. Plus Grant Kirkhope wants to do the music for this
