I'm gonna say it, Lost Odyssey.
I'm not sure if it's "obscure" though. It definitely attracted a lot of attention when it first released but then just sort of fell off the face of the Earth. Which is a shame because it's one of the few Xbox 360-exclusives worth getting and it's easily one of the best JRPGs in history.

Kingsley's Adventure! Cute animals with funny voice overs that noone understands a thing they are saying and it's quiet similar to The Legend of Zelda series, in the sense that players are given a quest and they have to explore a huge overworld, using a sword, a shield and a bow.

Working Designs is pretty much just Victor Ireland now, and he has a company called Gaijin Games. They still try and translate & release obscure JRPGS. A close affiliate company is Monkeypaw Games and they were actually responsible for getting Tomba emulation to work for PSN, and getting the rights cleared for it.

On topic, Dark Cloud anybody? Maybe it's just me but I feel like both Dark Cloud games kind of got lost in the sea of RPG's for the PS2 and they are some of my favorites. It's like Kingdom Hearts with substance (don't get me wrong, I actually like KH, but really, it is very much about style).

I have played Dark Cloud and I can see why it did not take off. It's a slow game that takes your time to complete. I bought the game over the summer (when I had the time to play games all day) and it still took me a month to get to the last boss. Maybe that was because I was trying to get the best sword. Still, I would love to buy the second one just to see how it improved.

Shooter? Not that I know of, the part I played was with some knight dude on a train and I was swinging a sword at a boss that reminded me of something from the Zelda games.

It is a pretty long run the first time around but I manage to beat it in about 5 days now, even with the best weapons. That's just probably because I play it too much.

Anyways though, if you did like it, Dark Cloud is a lot of fun. It's not as dark though but I do think it's overall an improvement. Gamestop's I go to always seem to have a copy lying around so that might be a good place to look.

I need to save up some money. The used book store that I live near (McKay's) has a copy or two but they are like $30. I have a long list of games that I want to buy and Dark Cloud 2 is not at the top right now. It's like number 6. I'll buy it one day.

THIS, SO MUCH THIS. The battle system was fantastic. And once again you've failed to mention how spectacular the music is. Nobuo really went above and beyond on this one.

I can't believe how a game like Liberation Maiden has gone so under the radar. This game is just as fun and ridiculous as I'd expect from a Suda51 game. THIS is how I was expecting Bangai-O Spirits to be and this is how it should have been. You can make even a mission based game fun and engaging without stopping the game every few minutes and throwing you back to the main menu to select another one.



This game is like a mix of Bangai-O and Vanquish.

I feel like a lot of people don't know about the BIT.TRIP series, and those who do seem kind of apathetic about it. That's really sad, because Beat and Runner are actually very good, fun, and challenging games. BIT.TRIP Beat is really good with the Wii's motion controls, but Runner works the same no matter where you play it. I guess the era of arcade-type games is over, but does it have to be?


Also Wizorb is really neat. Lot's of Zelda references in there.
