I saw you playing that on PSN yesterday. (06-01-2014, 10:22 AM)retrolinkx Wrote:(06-01-2014, 08:59 AM)TheTrueBoss997 Wrote: I think Saints Row 3rd was a bad game and disliked everything about it. I got it for free but I've never played any Saints Row game. So I wouldn't know what to judge it by. Looking at Saints Row IV though, that game seems fun as heck but I did enjoy Saints Row III (but again, that's because I'm new to the series). Mine: I generally find a lot of our older games to be just as bad as the modern games. Basically that a lot of games that are now 'cool to hate': Pokemon, DMC, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy don't realise how bad the originals really were. Sonic '06 really isn't that bad because, as above, the entire Sonic series in generally has been goofy and silly as hell. When I was 12 Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was incredible. But when you're 22 playing through it again, man that game is horrible(cutscenes especially, but still fun to play). It's why I can't find it hard to hate Sonic '06. The Final Fantasy series died long LONG before Final Fantasy XIII. Again, to pretend our old games are flawless is silly as the tropes of XIII are what made VII so iconic and yet the series turned into a completely different game altogether. It became about spikey haired kids with giant swords as opposed to humble stories and characters that VII had. Though 9 seemed to go back to it's roots. I have a gaming PC and still don't care about PC gaming. As much as I enjoy playing on a PC and getting the optimal graphics (and sometimes control schemes) and ability to mod, I'd rather play on consoles most, if not, all of the time. Nintendo were in their prime during the years of: End N64 through GameCube and GameBoy Advance to Wii launch. Their games and support for the systems resulted in Nintendo pumping out quality game for both systems that are still golden to this day. The Wii was sold on a fad. As much as I disliked Skyward Sword in so many ways, I've found A Link Between Two Worlds to be one of the most shallow Zelda games ever. It's trying to be what ALttP is without knowing what made it so great. I yawn at the "Incredibly bland, uninspired and generic villain, Collect 3 stones > world change > collect 7 items, save the world for meh ending" process that playing ALBTW is a chore to playthrough. Zelda: Going Through the Motions more like. Whether people like it or, sexism/misrepresentation of [insert gender] is a problem within the gaming industry and it's well worth talking about. The current generation of consoles (Wii U, PS4, Xbox One) has severely set the industry back. Terrible machines. Failed to deliver on promises. Over priced. DLC out the arse. Released too early. List goes on. Terrible terrible systems that I wouldn't recommend. Mobile gaming doesn't exist. It's just some watered down form of entertainment with horrible controls and Free2Play schemes that have infected consoles and PC gaming for the worse. Reviews are irrelevant as I'll still play a supposed crap game. I agree with Operation: Raccoon City. It's a fun game and in co-op the enjoyment only increases. Very solid gameplay mechanics and I like how it's set within the Resident Evil universe. Same with Other M. I understand the hate towards Samus, but bloody hell is that gameplay fun. Team Ninja really have fast paced action down and Other M is no exception. Twitch is generally better than watching TV. Yearly released sports games should be illegal to manufacture. They become obsolete within a few months. They have no value at all and waste a shit ton of plastic, shelf space and peoples time to sift though. No joke, they really do waste so much on those games it's pathetic. No-one wants them and they infest all the shops (especially in Europe). What's really sad is that I got into a conversation with a guy who was not a gamer (his wife (the gamer) bought a bulk of games and were selling the ones she did not want) over sports games and even he knew they were not worth it. I don't like them because no body wants Maddin 08 or 09 (unless they are collecting them) because Maddin 2015 is coming out. I will always say that the Maddin games should be DLC games since we can do it now and we don't need the shelve space for useless games. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - Psychospacecow - 06-01-2014 It'd be really cool to see a sports game take the e-sport approach with constant updates and tweaks, etc. It could have a season pass sort of deal and have each year be classed as a "league" or whatever they call it in said sport. Would be more profit 30 a pop per league on less development and physical production costs alone. Problem is, they do things as they are now, in America at least, for areas where internet isn't necessarily reliable. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - DeerBoarDude - 06-01-2014 I prefer Saints Row 1 and 2 over 3 and 4. I dunno, I prefer the realism more, [SPOILER] and I think that the death of Carl or something like that was pretty heartbreaking. [END SPOILER] RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - gamemaster1991 - 06-01-2014 Assassin's Creed III is one of the better games. ACIV:BF is the same game but with too much sailing and a dick for a main character. Bomberman: Act Zero feels like the same old game. I do not see what people are complaining about. People act like Samus never had emotions or a charicter. Other M (from what I can see) has given her more personality than people realize. Pokemon was a it's high at Gen 3, and than started recycling designs. A remake of Ruby and Sapphire is very welcome. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 is way better than Budokai 3. I can just imagine that a group of edgy teenagers thought up the idea of the game, and the guys at Hudson said "Yeah, that is such a good idea." I think Mass Effect 2 is simply a bad, bad game in terms of both storytelling as gameplay. I go to Carboot Sales all the time looking for games, the most common games are the sports(mainly FIFA games). I can't begin to image what a waste they are to the planet. It' a disgrace and I think this really should be brought to peoples attention. It's probably one of the most overlooked critiques of EA but I think it's a really important topic (not a tree hugger but seriously, the amount of sports games in shops/online that no-one wants is worrying). Agreed but the point being made is how they went about it. Samus is generally a lone solider, capable of holding her own. She's felt courage (taking on mother), she's felt compassion (The Baby), she's felt friendship (her fellow mercenaries in Metroid Prime 3) etc. She never says anything and yet she's a character with a lot of respect and was a good example of a female video game character. Team Ninja took that away by making her a whingebag and speaking in monotone straight out of a Square-enix game. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - Milesthumbs - 06-02-2014 I have a really unpopular opinion: Call of Duty is actually a Good Series. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - CLXcool - 06-03-2014 No love for Braindead 13? I guess some people can't stomach the dark comedy in this compared to Dragon's Lair's tame death animations. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - RepentantSky - 06-04-2014 I don't like Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Fallout or any Elder Scrolls games. I really enjoyed Resident Evil 6 and hope the next installment improves on the changes made in it from previous titles. I'm sick of Zombie games. FF7 to me was the worst game in the series until 12 came out and it still worse than FF13. RE: Unpopular Videogame Opinions - TrailerDrake - 06-07-2014 How about this one? Lance has to be the worst Pokemon Champion. Sure he’s got dragons, but Steven was the son of the President of a huge corporation, Alder appears SEVERAL times throughout Gen V to teach and guide you, Iris and Wallace were neat because they were previous Gym Leaders, Cynthia is a bad ass who knows a lot about legendary Pokemon, Diantha was a movie star, and Lance… has dragons. |
