That's a strange way of calling someone poor.

So true and still slightly wrong.
1) It's funny mentioning how playing games outside or on your break is bad when we live in a age of smart phones and viewing everything from a phone, so socialising nowadays is different.
2) The point of a handheld machine is to have gaming on the go. Kinda the point.
3) What's wrong with Taco night?

But yeah, mostly true. The comments I've seen are "Why would I want one?" which is pretty obvious, it's an entry level 3DS without the 3D.

I still think the design is horrible.
I'm confused as to why there isn't a second circle pad (meaning games that need the second circle pad can't be played on this)
The 2DS name. T'is a 3DS without 3D so it's...an 'S'?
Does not look comfortable to hold.
Fair points I think, but telling Nintendo not to release it is stupid, because there are people who want an affordable 3DS. I just think Nintendo could've changed a few key aspects of the system.

*It's also worth noting that this is actually a single screen separated by plastic. A cheap but effective method to making this handheld.

...because I wasn't calling poor people that? I thought it was obvious I meant penny-pinchers.

I know, I was just joking about.

It really sucks when I genuinely can't tell sarcasm apart. DISREGARD THAT I SUCK MUSHROOMS

Don't worry, it's always hard to figure sarcasm on the internet.

Yeah it's not as sleek looking as the other 3DSs are, and battery life is pretty much identical with it's 3DS counterparts

Buuuuuut

Never been a huge stickler on how a handheld system looked, so that's not a factor for me. main thing is that there are some 3DS games I would like to play and I currently do not have a 3DS, so the 2DS would now be the least expensive option. Call me a cheap-ass, but $40 is $40. I could use that to get a game for the system.

Not saying I'm rushing out right now to get one, but I am now considering it.

It still does not comfortable to hold at all. I'm not saying it is because I haven't gotten my hands on it, but the location of the buttons adds to the problem.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't the 3DS have the option to turn off the 3D effect and, you know, play in 2D?

It does, its just marketed to parents who have kids that broke the hinges on their normal ds, and don't know about parental settings.

My major problem with the system is it's timing. The idea itself, considering it's made for children isn't a bad one, but telling everyone about it literally 6 weeks before the system launches, that's just stupid, especially when you account for all the other major gaming news that floating around as we approach the start of the next generation of gaming. The system should have been announced during one of nintendo's directs to give people more time to get used to it, and so they wouldn't have such a short time to give us any info we might about the system before we decide to buy it.

To be fair, we are talking about a company that announces their Nintendo Direct(s?) a day before they .

OT: I admit, when I first saw it, I took an immediate disliking to the system's design. I am still not of fan of the redesign itself, especially the lack of the clamshell hinge, and it says a lot about how Nintendo is pretty much abandoning a key feature of the handheld. That being said, releasing it the same day as Pokémon X & Y will guarantee its success and allow parents to pick up the game and system for a cheaper price than buying an older model. It's designed with a younger demographic than Nintendo usually aims for, and for that, it looks like it will work.
