Emulators are perfectly legal and there should be no problem with posting them.

The gray area is the roms, not the programs used to play them.
edit- on that note, homebrew is legal too so go ahead

If I'm blunt about it, it's like,
"Linking ROMS is bad, but we all know you can just Google any ROM you want and get it there". Plus ROMS are fine if you own the legal copy(assuming the person you're talking to owns the physical/digital version). I'd still put ROMS in a gray area but then you should just PM each other to avoid potential "outrage".
Not that I really care since linking to a ROM of Super Mario World doesn't take away from Nintendo since you can't buy the game new anyway. Still...that gray area, yo.

Here are the rules again:

(03-16-2013, 10:15 PM)A Zombie Riot Wrote: (If one of the higher ups don't like this, get rid of it then, but I'm just posting this from the other forum)

1. No agressive attacks on other members. You will be banned if you make a personal attack on another member.

2. No excessive, pointless posting of memes or fads. Make sure your posts have a meaning or they will be deleted and you will be warned.

3. No NSFW images or linking. Posting porn or any kind of illegal material will result in a permanent ban.

4. No spamming of any kind.

5. Stay on topic in threads.

6. When posting videos, please put them in spoiler tags [spoiler][/*spoiler] (without the *) so when the page loads, it doesn't take forever for a page to load and it can go smoothly. This rule now is only in effect for posting multiple videos in a single post, or in a thread where videos are required (Example: The Music Thread). Otherwise, you do not have to use spoiler tags for videos.

And that's it. Have fun!

Yeah, no Nigel threads!

That was never against the rules. Plus, those types of threads can just go in the playground.

RE: Forum Rules - pyoro64 - 03-20-2013

What are the rules on swearing?

RE: Forum Rules - Dazz - 03-20-2013

Swear in moderation. We're not going to stop you swearing, because God only knows I can't stop myself from swearing, but just be aware that some people might be a little offended.

RE: Forum Rules - A Zombie Riot - 03-20-2013

If I post an image that has a swear word, I always give a little warning.

And if I swear (which I normally ever don't), I say excuse my language.

RE: Forum Rules - Mighty Jetters - 03-20-2013

I'll admit I have said a couple words on occasion but I do try to refrain from it.

RE: Forum Rules - Mighty Jetters - 03-23-2013

excuse me for double posting but I got a question,
may we use the report button for things like pointing out that a thread was posted in the wrong place/is exactly the same subject as another thread, and should be merged etc.? or does that count as abusing the system/only applies to posts that are actually breaking the rules?
now don't worry, I'm not trying to use this as an excuse to pester about there being 3-4 other seemingly useless videogame music threads, but threads like this that new members might make for example are unecessary so I just wondered if we could use the system to direct the attention of the mods to it (I realize it's right here in this forum which all the staff checks, but it'll probably happen in the future in a forum that is less moderated so it'd be nice to know that's all).

RE: Forum Rules - Petie - 03-23-2013

The report button, both here and on the main site, isn't just for rule breaking. It's for bring anything that needs staff attention to the attention of the staff. That said, the thread you linked is fine so there's nothing to report there.

RE: Forum Rules - Mighty Jetters - 03-23-2013

okay I guess, I just wondered. :P

RE: Forum Rules *NEW RULE ADDED* - A Zombie Riot - 06-07-2013

New rule added!

Which I'm sure will apply to everybody except you.

RE: Forum Rules *NEW RULE ADDED* - cingchris - 06-07-2013

Damn already an infraction on the new rule. But seriously I truly think this rule doesn't need to be added as stated before in the apology thread the second rule covers it, and to be honest this just seems like an over reaction to the other over reaction we had in the gaming free thread. I want to say more but I will keep my thoughts to myself for now but if this continues I'm going to be stating my opinion on this whole argument and how it turned out, so everyone just drop it please, and if you would please get rid of the new rule, it's unnecessary.

RE: Forum Rules *NEW RULE* - A Zombie Riot - 06-07-2013

Changed it up a little bit. I basically combined rule #2 and the new one together so now it's under rule #6. And....

Wow.

If you see me provoking another member, report the post.

RE: Forum Rules *NEW RULE* - Zaliphone - 06-07-2013

It's a pretty nonspecific rule, what if it's accidental provocation? I'm assuming that would be a whole different story.
