I don't know if this is gonna work out or not but, I wanted to make this thread to talk about Pokemon (The games in general). I know that there are other threads like "Your Pokemon X/Y thoughts", "Your favorite starter" etc. So I don't know how this will work out.
Let the discussion begin!

I think it fits, because we are discussing all of Pokemon not just a specific part. I am actually surprised no one made this sooner.

NO.
Also, do you guys mind keeping the X/Y information to the Pokemon X/Y thread and trying to not have it leak into this one? I'd really appreciate it,

Funny that you have written this now, there was just randomly an article about the Pokémon card game in the local newspaper.

Does anybody use those X Attack, X Defend, etc. items? I always thought they were useless.

They're good for competitive if I'm not mistaken but I personally don't care for that, so no.

In most competitive formats, using items from the bag is banned (so people don't just spam full restores), aside from that, they can be useful if you're just trying to wait out attacks in order to use Flail or Reversal or something at maximum power. They're pretty much crap for everything else.

Totally useless in my games. I rarely even use items that raise stats permanently.

Why does everybody say that Whitney's Miltank was difficult? I never had a problem with it.

It all depends on if you have a team that's prepared to handle it, if you don't have anything by that point that can take care of it quickly or resist it, that thing is pretty damn bulky and it has really good stats for that phase of the game, plus a lot of people just aren't prepared for it. It has a leg up over most of the other poke's you've fought up to that point since it has no evolution, so it's base stats are far better than most basic pokemon.
I usually just used an Onix to wall it.

Aren't Miltanks generally OP?

It is hard. I've never beat her without most of my Pokemon dying brutally and the only survivor having a massive concussion.
That being said, I am generally proud of my current HeartGold team.
Lvl. 26 Goldeen named Lips
Lvl. 28 Flaffy named Wool
Lvl. 27 Crobat named Mutalisk
Lvl. 29 Tauros named Nepal (the cow is Nepal's national animal and I like that name)
Lvl. 27 Weepinbell named Chimay (Its in tribute)
Lvl. 26 Quilava named Quilliam
(I was making my way to Cianwood City, let my brother take over while I did something and he thought I wanted to train. He has a bad habit of forgetting what I asked him to do)

I love Tauros in HG/SS, he's a freaking tank and easy to catch with a great move pool, as opposed to Red and Blue where he was damn near impossible to catch and didn't have too many great moves. Except Hyper Beam, because that was still considered physical.
