How about having a little Mega-man icon? That'd be nice.

Everything y'all are saying is making sense. I hope you guys don't think I was being bitchy or anything. I wasn't trying to I swear!

No worries. That's not how you were coming across and it was a valid suggestion. We're just presenting pros and cons.

At this stage, it seems that we're in agreement to stick to titles and signatures though?

Ok good.
I'm still pro-teeny-tiny-icon next to username, but I will not be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Honestly, I think having the user set their own custom title to DYKG Original or whatever at will (as you guys currently are) is the best way to go about things.

A badge will create a distinction. Some users will have it, and others won't. It will still create a sort of "inner circle" mentality as it's not something that can be earned by people outside of the circle.

With it being optional through the use of the custom title, it's up to the specific member in question to make the distinction for themselves, or not to do it at all. It's not a status identifier as something like a badge or special usergroup would be.

I know I have the Founding Member title so it might sound hypocritical coming from me, but this title was earned through helping with the site before it went public and not simply given to me for existing. ...Does that make sense?

edit- On that note, I have no issue with future "badges" or whatever being given through members earning them through things like competitions or most trivia submitted or whatever. But like I said, being given a title for merely existing as opposed to earning it for doing whatever isn't the best idea.

I'm glad you said something about that because I was curious. I was like "but I was one of the first on DYKG!" hahaha. I didn't realize it's for members who helped before it went public.

To clarify, since I now realize that my original announcement is no longer visible, the "Founding Member" badge and user group were given as a thank you to anyone who participated in the VGFacts beta test. It's not an arbitrary "I registered first" title and isn't specifically related to DKYG, tSR, or anything but VGFacts itself.

As for a tiny icon, that would also require a custom group so at this stage, I'm going to finalize this and just say stick to your title and/or signature. You guys can certainly come to a consensus and all use the same thing if you'd like to make it slightly more formal but I think that's how we're going to handle this. Thanks for your input everyone!

Exactly. If you check the Member List and sort by registration date, there are a few people who registered before me (or after me but still before the site launched) who aren't founding members since they didn't participate.

honestly I'm not sure what I really did besides submit 3 trivias before launch. I just wonder how that qualifies me as helping with beta testing and etc..

I've been wondering, are we gonna have the stars under our name like in DYKG?

You mean like the two you already have now?

They're technically there if you check the member list, actually.
I'm not sure about appearing in posts.

I'm confused.

Oh! They don't appear in classic display mode. Hold on, I'll fix that.

Edit:
There you go.
