My guess is that since it's not a "real" evolution per say, all of the competitive tournaments are going to ban them.

I had no idea what these mega evolutions were until I just looked them up and I have to say, it sounds like a cool new idea. What I wonder is, how many Pokemon will be able to do this mega evolution?
I also think that the Mewtwo Mega Evolution is kind of a downgrade IMO.

Considering Mawile has gotten a Mega evo I am going to hold out for a farfect'd mega evo myself.
It's not the most original idea but I think he has a lot of potential (I could see him turning into a flying/fighting type, which is actually a really good type that covers most of the pokemon in the game).
