I think the first star is like 10 posts then the next is 100, after that it could be 200-500 then 1k posts.

The official ruling is this.
20 Posts = 1 Star
100 Posts = 2 Stars
500 Posts = 3 stars
1000 Posts = 4 Stars
Admin/Super Mod/Other = 5,6, or 7 Stars
