Why is everyone hating the WiiU and Nintendo?

As I said earlier, The Wii U has creative opportunity.

Eh? Elaborate please on how the WiiU will have more sells. While Nintendo is dominating the hand held market (and when Pokemon comes out...wow), the console sales have not been that hot and there's nothing really big at the moment for people to buy the console. Even Windwaker HD has been having low sales, which many suspected would have boosted sales of the WiiU.

Time will tell my friend. Until then, pre-order Pokemon x/y.

Regardless in the differences between software development of the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, they all have their capabilities and flaws like any other software. Imagine this. What if certain games that were released on only both the 360 and PS3 were released on the Nintendo console? Titles like Splatterhouse, Catherine, Lollipop chain, and hell Bioshock were also made for the Nintendo console.

Some things would be difficult to do with the controls for the said games since these games require more buttons than what the Wii remote has on. Chances are the said ports would have capability of being played with a Nintendo gamecube controller(which would probably be easier to the said gamer) instead how it works out for the Wii remote and nunchuck.

As much as I know a few people who think some of the games that were made only for the 360 and PS3 could work out on the Nintendo console, chances are that the third party developer had been skeptical about doing things for the Wii U console. They don’t see the potential on what the Wii U can do for gaming. Hence why some of the developers who were originally going to make games for the Wii U console later decided to back out. I know Ubisoft was originally going to just put Rayman Legends on only the Wii U(as we all know, they later put the game on the 360 and Ps3 as well).

If developers just gave Nintendo and Wii U a chance, they can see how good it will be for third party development. Heck. There are already people talking about how games such as South Park: Stick of Truth, Kingdom Hearts III, and hell even Grand Theft Auto V should be made for the Wii U over the other third party consoles. I know at one point that one of the Rockstar gaming studios was interested in bringing a GTA game to the Wii(not sure if he was talking about a new game like V for just a port of 3 or Vice City with new things to add to the game’s content). But like everyone else who has given up on the console, they backed out.

Completely agree.

BUT

This is mostly Nintendos fault. They live in their own bubble and ignore the competition. Nintendo put out a next generation system a year before the rest with no support from third party developers because they're working on Xbox 360/PS3 games and then Xbox ONE and PS4. They create controls that don't conform to the other consoles and therefore, can be the lesser version to play due to gimmicky annoyances.

If you made a game for the Wii U saying "This is going to be amazing and I'm going to give it 110%", only to find out next generation (Next Xbox and Playstation) are going to be released next year with EVEN BETTER technology, you'd feel like your time is wasted. That the game you're developing is getting a lesser audience because everyone is waiting for the other two systems.

Hopefully in the future we'll see more of the consoles coming inline and that the Wii U then becomes a good rivalry but that's only if Nintendo get their heads out of their butts. The Wii U isn't even close to what the PS4 can technically offer. Why develop for it?

Because it gives creative opportunity to devs who want to make games unique. Also it comes to the fact that some franchises like Sonic have a better stand at Nintendo consoles rather than others. Also I think a lot of indie games are coming out for the Wii U each being really good to play for the most part.

But I mean for multi platform titles. Games like Sonic Generations are effing incredible that I can't recommend enough. Phenomenal game, but the Wii doesn't have the right output to give the designers what they're trying to go for. It's why games like Sonic Unleashed on Wii is completely different game compared to Sonic Unleashed on Xbox/PS3. I don't just mean in graphics, but gameplay as well. Two very different games. So far Sonic is doing better on the other systems than the Wii and they have a higher reception rating. For every Sonic '06 there's a Sonic Black Knight/Secret Rings.

I agree though in that there is no excuse for games like Bioshock Infinite and GTA V not being out for the Wii U. There is real reason they can't be on the Wii U. As for next gen, I think the Wii U is screwed. It's going to the Wii all over again with the Wii U being shafted with lesser and more dull titles whereas Sony/Microsoft get the better titles.

I don't think it's funny either, I generally want to own a Wii U and I think it's a great console, but because of Nintendos business decisions, we're stuck with a brick that's only just got a functioning YouTube and still no account system. Nintendo make a huge scene out of Wind Waker HD and yet Sony and Microsoft have been making HD remakes for the last 4 years(Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 4/CVX, God of War, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid etc).

That being said, Smash Bros 4 and Bayonetta are going to be amazing. That's Nintendo's time for sure.

Sonic generations plays very similarly than Sonic Colors and if that game outsold Generations, Then generations would've done better on the Wii. Also the Wii version of unleashed sold well on Wii.

Nintendo is so far the only company that is doing its own thing which many devs don't like. When Nintendo has a great game......ITS A REALLY GREAT GAME!!!! The Wii encouraged devs to be very creative and thus we ended up getting great games like Colors, Boy and his blob etc. They will continue doing this because they know people want something that is different. Infact difference is how competition in video games work. Even the slightest graphics in the PS4 and ONE make a huge difference even though that doesn't impress me at all.

What about 3D World which is so far the best Wii U game there is? What about Tropical Freeze?

True. But Unleashed on Wii and 360 are very different games. By the time Unleashed came out for the Wii, the PS2 was still relevant, therefore porting a PS2 game to the Wii is simple(same with early Wii titles which are ports). Seeing how the Wii can't even come close to the processing power of the 360/PS3, when it came to developing Generations for the 360/PS3, there wouldn't be any point in trying to sell an inferior product. They could've put Generations on the Wii or heck, given it a go regardless, but the outcome would've been incredibly different.

But with that being said, the Wii still doesn't get games like Catherine, Alice: Madness or Death Smiles. For everyone Boy and His Blob/Zack and Wiki on Wii, there's 10 other games on the 360/PS3 that are creative to easily rival them and in most port cases(No More Heroes, Dead Rising etc.) they're much better in every single way with more content. I personally don't think that developers have the creative freedom you think. With Nintendos limitations on technology, developers are actually at a lesser form of expression. 360/PS3 allowed for indie developers to write for their console. Wii...didn't.

3D world looks fun. Tropical Freeze...eh. I've played Donkey Kong plenty of times before and this isn't really anything getting excited about.

The only problem with 3D world is that the XBONE and PS4 came out so...money went to them :/ That being said, will be getting 3D World. Also worth noting, the last Wii U game was Wonderful 101 and that was 4 months ago. If it takes 4 months for the Wii U to even be considered playing again, then that's a problem.

The more I read this thread, the more I'm starting to think someone from PR is trying really hard to convince me to support the "underdog" company. Complete with examples of games that said company had little to no bearing on its creation.

Might deserve its own thread, but Tomb Raider may be coming to the Wii U after all.

That's more like it. The more third party support, the better. At least the Wii U is 1080p. XBONE is still 720p which I find UNACCEPTABLE!

Now if only Square could get KHIII on the Wii U.
