Since I assume all the ranged weapons are guns, I pick the melee weapon. Zed tryes to knock out of the assassins to use as leverage/information. The more we know about our situation, the better we can plan. If that does not work, we always have our new "friend" give us the information.......... one way or the other.

Adessi gracefully attacks with melee, but before doing so he adjusts his fingerless gloves to make sure that they wouldn't "accidentally" slip off.

Slade goes after a pistol (if there is one available) and attacks the gunmen without asking questions. After the battle he checks if there is any melee weapons left and if there is one he'll take it.

Right, I've finished the science. I won't have time to write the story part today, but here's the science part to whet your appetites.
There are some explanations so read up and take notes !

NOTE - Health is worked out like thus (1EN + 2ST) if your ST is higher than your AC, (1EN + 2AC) if your AC is higher than your ST.
For example - Him has higher AC so it's (1EN + 2AC) = 8 + 2(10)) = 28.
Attacks will be worked out based on a randomly generated number (RGN) factored with your ST or AC (based on the attack you chose to make). Damage based on your ST or AC and the enemy's EN.
I'll be factoring in the other stats as we continue but for now we'll keep it simple to test the system. Cool.
NB - Defence from an attack is determined by EN.

Battle
Ok so a little more on attacking stats before this ‘Battle’ section – 1-4 is a critical fail, 17-20 is a critical hit. The success and strength of your attack will be determined by the Random Number Generator (RNG20). Your luck will determine how little or how big that critical bracket is (but for the time being, we’ll keep it equal for everyone).
Attacks will be the stat you use to attack + 1/2RNG + any critical hit bonus + weapon bonus.
Also, for now, your attack strength will be determined on your ST or AC. If the current battle system works, I’ll factor in your ST or AC into the RNG to determine the success of your attack (instead of the success only being determined by an RNG that is, as the name suggests, totally random).
When the enemy attacks, we’ll stick to RNG to determine who they will attack (for now). When other users start controlling enemies, we’ll go to personal choices.

Hmmm I may have to add that to the next episode, althought DeadBoarDude has final say as he controls the character.

The story is very interesting, but at times can get confusing and I find myself looking back at the story and reading the current part once or twice to see if I missed a hint of the location and setting.
Adessi ponders the thought of how the thugs managed to locate the group as they had only randomly teleported to that time and place. He wonders if the thugs have a leader and if they were targeting just Kyle, or if they knew that Adessi and he group were traveling to that time and so they were told to attack them as well.

Good point -- You don't actually know where you are at the moment. All you know is a room with a door leading... somewhere? :)

Reed takes the initiative to bar Kyle into a restrained point to where the supposedly sane stranger won't be bothering them. Then, upon doing so, hands Adessi a small knife "for reassurance and persuasiveness" then starts scouting the immediate area.

We can get some recon from this Q&A. Zed asks where they are, how much danger is in the area (enemys,traps, the like), and if we can have some more weapons along with some clothes/armor.
