I love my game boy. Donkey Kong 94, Kid Icarus and Kirby's Dream Land have all been getting my love. Also, I still play my genesis quite a bit, and Mean Bean Machine, the Shinobi games and Phantasy Star VI get quite a bit of my time.

You know what the worse part about buying games that you missed out on during your childhood? the price.

I mean holy crap. $249 for Shantae?! Is it really that rare and my parents never knew it? That's not getting into Conker's Bad Fur Day and Gotcha Force!.

No one is going to buy VGA graded games IF YOU CAN'T EVEN FUCKING PLAY THEM.

They've even VGA graded one of the 26 Nintendo World Championship carts out there, so now it can never be played, it'll just be a fucking ornament that will forever be stuck in VGA grading plastic or whatever the fuck it is.

Its really a wonder in my mind why there isn't a bigger effort to get older games onto newer systems. Its is there though.

There are a lot of reason why it's difficult to move games onto other systems.

For one, a lot of the original games source code has been lost, like Panzar Dragoon Saga, Sega can't make a HD version of it since they don't have the original code they had the first time to change values to make it look better.

And if they did use some sort of emulation to be able to put older games onto the newer systems people will either complain that the game isn't in HD (just like above, it's not possible without a lot of work) and emulation can be a strain on the system. Xbox emulation on the 360 was shit at times, and sometimes didn't even work with some games.

Besides, there isn't much demand for older games by the mainstream unless it's Ocarina of Time or some other N64 title, so a lot of companies have very little reason to actually spend how ever much money to redo a game and port it to the system for a tenth of it's original price to make a small profit or barely break even.

Lmao thats exactly what I said about Shantae, and I enjoy collecting just as much as the next guy but really man...250+ for a gbc game?

My sides. Also I lucked out on some games (like Gotcha Force, was 10 bucks), bought it before I even bothered to look up the price, just blew me away.

I know right. I nomaly keep to a set price when game shoping. I like to keep it cheep ($1-15) just to make sure I have money after ward. I don't touch anything that will put a big hole in my pocket unless it's something that I know will go up in price really fast or if it's a gift for someone. I almost had enough for Shantae at one time but I had to decide on a game that I may or may not play for a short time or a WiiU.

I don't mind keep a game sealed and making sure it doesn't get damaged, but the whole "grading" thing I think it pretty bullshit. You should only ever grade something(if you must) that is ACTUALLY worth something.

But I kept some ps1 favourites, such as Suikoden 1 - 2, Misadventures of tron bonne, Grandia. I suppose they can be considered old school now.

The only older games I have are my gameboy games. Metroid 2, Kid Dracula, Final fantasy Legends 1 - 3, etc.

Yes, I bought them all when they were cheap, years and years ago, I have a few more that are high up in the price list, but they aren't my favourites really, I was lucky enough to buy them on ebay, while they weren't rare, yet just after enough to know they were cult classics and great games.

Honestly, I have games that I could sell for a lot of money but I don't because then I wouldn't have them and it would make me sad.

I would know. I'm the same way. I keep almost every game I get unless it's really bad, and even then I'm not sure if I could sell it.

It could be worse. My mom has found out this year that there are games that are counted as "rare" and has been on the look out for them. Not to keep them, but to resale them to other people. I tell her all about the saving that I get from games, but if I ever get a copy of Shantae, Conker's Bad Fur Day, or (God forbid) Flinstones (the one game both of us have been looking for), I will not be telling her in fear that she will take them.
