I don't get MMA -- it just looks like people beating each other up whilst other egg them on.

Just go to your local pub, same result.

Apparently, winning 75% of the football games you coach isn't good enough.
Mark Richt is no longer the head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs, BUT he is expected to be announced as the new head coach of the University of Miami Hurricanes on Friday. There have been many, many other coaches lose their jobs in the FBS.
Also, in the NBA, reigning MVP Steph Curry has already hit 102 3-pointers in 20 games. This man is on fire!

Here's a look at what's happening and what the college football playoff is probably going to look like:

Michigan State Spartans upset the previously undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes during the Big 10 championship. This win just made Michigan State playoff contenders and knocked Iowa out of their chance to play for a national title.
Alabama Roll Tide defeated the Florida Gators in the SEC championship and will probably enter the playoffs ranked #2.
Undefeated Clemson Tigers defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels, to remain ranked #1 in the nation, during the SEC championship.
During the last week of November, Oklahoma Sooers defeated Oklahoma State Cowboys for the Big 12 championship.
Here's what the playoff is PROBABLY going to look like (the final selection and release of schedule is Dec 6):
#1 - Clemson
#2 - Alabama
#3 & #4 - Michigan State & Oklahoma; not sure which team will be ranked higher.
The playoff bracket will have #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3. The winners will play in the championship.

Results are in -
#1 Clemson Tigers vs #4 Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl
#2 Alabama Roll Tide vs #3 Michigan State Spartans in the Cotton Bowl
Clemson vs Oklahoma is a rematch of last year's Russell Athletic Bowl (Clemson won 40-6). Conspiracy theorists will state that more money and better payouts will result from the guaranteed rematch, instead of chancing it as a championship in case one of them lost, and Alabama vs Oklahoma would make more money and have better attendance if they play in the championship.
The rest of the top 25 and the bowls will be announced later.

If "we" is "me"... As much as I dislike them, Alabama Roll Tide. I want the championship to come back to the South Eastern Conference.
But, my Tennessee Volunteers is #25 and is the only team to play 2 of the 4 teams in playoffs (i could be wrong, but we are known to always have the, arguably, hardest schedule every year. We lost to Oklahoma and Alabama, but we fought hard. We're expecting to move up in the rankings later today.

I was thinking of following the games supporting whatever your team is, keep things simple for my first year.

Okay. Sounds good. Tennessee Volunteers moved up to #23. We will probably play in the Outback Bowl against #13 Northwestern.
Also, Tennessee Volunteers are playing against Virginia Tech Hokies at a neutral site, Bristol Motor Speedway. If you're not familiar with this, Bristol Motor Speedway is a NASCAR sanctioned race track. The neutral site, with both teams not truly being the "home" team, raises my hopes that both teams will wear their home uniforms. A college football attendance record of up to 160,000 could be set. The current record is 115,109.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Brooklyn Nets. They're 22-0. Curry is still hot. I can see this team beating the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls' record of 72-10.
Personally, in the hypothetical best teams ever/dream match universe, the Chicago Bulls would run the Warriors over. That just me, though. I'm old school and a fan of Phil Jackson's 12 man wrecking crew.

Okay, NCAA football bowl games:
#1 Clemson Tigers dominated #4 Oklahoma Sooners for the win in the Orange Bowl. 37-17
#3 Alabama Roll Tide p'wned #2 Michigan State Spartans in the Cotton Bowl. 38-0. Heisman Trophy winner Derek Henry played awesome.
Clemson and Alabama will face off for the National Championship.

#23 Tennessee Volunteers destroyed #13 Northwestern Wildcats 45-6 in the Outback Bowl.
Evan Berry intercepted a pass and returned it from one end zone to the other. This makes 3 kicksix-es and 1 picksix (kick off returns for touchdown and interception/pick off for a touchdown) for Evan Berry - the nation's best special teams player and brother of Eric Berry, safety did the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs.

Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Clemson Tigers. I only watched half of the game, but it was a very close match-up. Good game.
