General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread
Nudity in spoiler.
One of my favourite tropes in pretty much anything is weak characters having to show their strong, and kids being given big responsibilities akin to adults.

Ishidoro being one, he's a kid who's trying to be like Guts, but is pretty weak and now he's been given a responsibility to protect people against some dangerous trolls. Guts can't, so he has to give him the responsibility.

The page was really well done.

I watched the first two episodes of Space Dandy before work. I like it enough to keep watching, but so far it's nothing special. Just a dude, a robot, and a Pokémon going on zany adventures. Oh, and boobs.

Yeah, it picks up as you go further in. The thing to remember about Space Dandy is that its more of an episodic deal, so sequence of events rarely matter in other episodes.

Hope you're listening to it dubbed. It's top tier like Cowboy Bebop.

Of course! Very impressed with it so far and have yet to hear/recognize Funimation recycling voice actors; that's what kills it for me sometimes.

Been too many people around to chat, and LPers uploading spooky games, so I haven't had a chance to see anymore yet.

I actually revisited Metropolis, the anime from 2001 based off of the work of Osmau Tezuka. My god. Not only did it hold up, I actually choked up a bit emotionally when this song came on. Perfect choice of music for the scenery.

Funimation Licenses Dragon Ball Super, Plans English Dub

Spoiler warning for the DR3 anime. Oh my god... I'd been watching it in Japanese with subs as it came out, so I totally didn't realize how bad the English dub is. Like, the game had some pretty "meh" choices for voice acting, but this is so much worse. OMG, Junko.

I cannot believe the dialogue that already sound dated that they used. TBH, it's like I'm watching the 90s Sailor Moon dub all over again; it's THAT bad.

I always forget that Berserk has actual comedic anime moments that only happen in slice of life anime, it always takes me by surprise.

Warning: Mild Nudity

There's a good one. Silke was trying to help Caska dry herself after a bath, and Caska grabbed the towel that was around Silke, and she spun around and fell into a sleeping Guts, naked.

It also doesn't help that she apparently has feeling for him as well.

Was listening to this because it randomly appeared on my youtube recommendations.

While listening to it, I was like "Wow, sounds like Paprika. I should listen to that soundtrack again". When it finished I went to check what it was.

Turned out to be from Paprika.

Haven't seen that film in years, it was a nice reminder.

So, what's this "paprika" movie about? It is worth watching?

Oh my god. ANYTHING with Satoshi Kon's name on it is AMAZING! I have not watched Paprika in years, but the stunning animation alone is worth it! I think it has to deal with dreams that spill out into the real world. It's got an Alice in Wonderland vibe with all the absurd things that you see. Unfortunately he did like to add elements of sometimes disturbing sexual content to his works, but it's super brief in Paprika. I still haven't watched all of Perfect Blue because of that ><

Also check out Paranoia Agent and Tokyo Godfathers! Those are my favorites.

I just wonder if the movie he was working on before he died will ever be completed ;_;
