KOF XIV vs. KOF XV comparison. Feat. Whip (real name: Seirah)

Seirah looks better than XIV. Look at her clothes, expressions, and the fluidity of her moves. Also, her blue whip no longer looks like its made out of plastic.

The King of Fighters 15 confirmed to use GGPO rollback netcode, more nice online features included in beta test

SNK shared the official storyline details for "Team Ikari" — consisting of KOF original character Leona Heidern, as well as Ikari Warriors' Ralf Jones and Clark Still.

The King of Fighters 2001 is now 20 years old. The final chapter of the NESTS saga, this game was considered by many to be the worst KOF ever made. Or at least that was the case until the release of THAT ONE GAME WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT. This game was the debut of fan favorites Angel and Tetsuo Shima from Akira K9999.

Contrary to what some people might say, Leona Heidern is NOT from Brazil. In all of her profiles her birthplace is listed as "unknown". Leona Heidern being Brazilian is nothing but a rumor with no basis on the series' canon.

The confusion might be caused because the Ikari stage in KOF '94 is set in Brazil. The reason why the stage is in Brazil is because the team were doing a mission over there at the time. Heidern's birthplace is also listed as unknown.

As for Ralf Jones and Clark Still? Those two are Gringos. EDIT: 'Gringo' is not a slur. It can be used in the context of a slur, but the word itself isn't a slur. Gringo can also be used in neutral manner, just like 'Yankee'.

This one is not a menber of the Ikari team but still belongs here. Another case of mistaken nationality (mostly among the Latin American fandom) is Foxy being.... Venezuelan? What? I can understand why people think that Leona Heidern is Brazilian (which she's not, as previously stated). But Foxy being Venezuelan? Who the fuck spread such a rumor?

Another case of mistaken nationality in KOF is Robert Garcia from Art of Fighting. Contrary to what some people say, Robert is not Mexican. He's Italian.

https://web.archive.org/web/202006102011...num=robert

https://www.snk-corp.co.jp/us/games/kof-...robert.php

https://www.snk-corp.co.jp/us/games/kof-...robert.php

You are probably wondering why he's called Robert Garcia even thought that's one of the least Italian sounding names out there. Is it because he has Spanish ancestry? Nope. There's no proof that he has family or relatives in Spain. And no, Art of Fighting 2 doesn't count. The dialogue saying he's from Spain is not present in the original Japanese release.

https://marsdragon.brontoforum.us/SNK/aof2/big.html

The real reason the Italian guy is named Robert Garcia back in the early 90s SNK didn't really knew what Italian names actually were. And yes, there are worse examples in the industry. Take a look at these American names from Fighting Baseball for the Super Famicom:

No, I'm not saying that Robert Garcia should have been given a name that's stereotypical AF. Something like Roberto Giovanni could have worked. Its close to the name we got while sounding like a real Italian name. And no, I don't think they are gonna change the characters name, like ever. That name's is stuck with him.

As for the Art of Fighting stage in KOF '94 being set in Mexico? Well, in the KOF universe there's a Kyokugenryu Karate dojo in Mexico. That's it.

EDIT: "but what about Jeffrey Jey from Eiffel 65? There are real italian people out there that don't h-" - That's not his real name, that's his stage name. His real name is Gianfranco Randone.

INB4 "No Persona 5 Arena? Aww Sad "

On one hand, I must say ASW output is quite impressive. Sure, we don't know how long this has been in development, but the fact is they've been working on multiple games that are up and coming, as well as recieving support all during this Covid nonsense.

On the other hand, I worry they are stretching themselves too thin. They're juggling DBFZ, GBFV, GG:Strive and now this (since Cross Tag Battle is done I guess). Is gonna be harder to keep the quality up if they keep pushing this many titles.

As for the music, why do people keep saying that it's gonna have a "GG style soundtrack" and that all ASW fighters have the same style of music? Some people just hear a guitar and they instantly think "GG style soundtrack".

- Blazblue does not have a GG style soundtrack. It’s quite different from the more heavier Rock emphasis of GG.

- Persona 4 Arena does not have a GG style soundtrack. It’s heavily borrowed from their source material with very little actual rock.

- DBFZ granted does have Rock emphasis for a good number of their character themes, but Rock is fitting for something like DBZ.

- GBFV like P4A is heavily borrowed from source material.

What does this mean Dungeon Fighter Duel? Most likely it means that the game it's gonna have a soundtrack that heavily borrows from the source material, and Dungeon Fighter Online happens to have some rock tracks.

It's been almost a year since DNF Duel was first revealed. And now we got another trailer for the game.

No information on the game's release window or targeted platforms are currently known.

EDIT: The new fighter is being developed by Arc System Works in conjunction with Neople and Eighting.

Two years ago, Riot Games announced they began development on a 2D fighting game based on the League of Legends series. Here's the gameplay trailer. For now the game is known as Project L.

Project L is still early in development and the team at Riot Games clarified that a lot of work still has to be done.

Luke looks pretty decent gameplay wise. I wonder how his story will go. One thing for certain is that the guy is NOT Charlie or Guile's son like the fan theories said.

Luke will be releasing on November 29 for Season Pass 5 holders and those who wish to pick him up solo.

Moving on from Street Fighter V, Bandai Namco has announced two new editions for TEKKEN 7: TEKKEN 7 Originals Edition and TEKKEN 7 Definitive Edition. This heavily implies that the development for Tekken 7 DLC content has fully wrapped up.

The Originals Edition version of the game can be picked up for $89.99 while the Definitive Edition is priced at $109.99. What the hell are these prices, Bandai Namco? These prices don't make any sense, specially for a game that's five years old.

Let's talk about WeaponLord. It's a 1995 weapon-based fighting game developed by Visual Concepts and published by Namco for the SNES and Genesis / Mega Drive.  Yes, this was before Soul Blade/Calibur.

I knew about WeaponLord since 2016. How come I never talked about this game until now??

EDIT: Here's the page for the WeapnLord HD mockup.

Ángel is the latest character to be revealed for The King of Fighter XV.

So now they are spelling her name as Ángel instead of Angel? Huh, so now they are spelling her name they way its meant to be spelled in Spanish. The way the announcer pronounces her name is also spot on. These changes make sense because Ángel is Mexican.

Q: "Wait, if she's Mexican then why does she look like that?"

A: Mexican people can vary drastically in terms of physical appearence. Not just in Mexico, but also Latin America in general. 'Mexican' isn't a race. The reason why many Mexicans look the way they do (brown, ect) is because they have indigenous blood. As a matter of fact, Mexico is the country with the biggest indigenous / Native American population in the world.

While we are at it, here's a reminder that Native Americans aren't a monolith. There are many different tribes and cultures all across both North and South America.

Video comparison with KOF XIV.

Ángel is a textbook example of that one character everyone wants to learn but only 1% end up playing because she's so complicated.
