Ever heard a song so many times that you didn't even realize it was a cover? Well, here's some original songs that you most often hear the cover.
[spoiler]
Eric Clapton and Cream immoralized "Cross Road Blues" to such an extent that is the song that defines them, at least in my mind. But it was origially recorded by delta blues legend Robert Johnson in 1936.
Kansas Joe McCoy and his wife Memphis Minnie recorded "When the Levee breaks" back in 1929. Of course, Led Zepplin released their famed version in 1971.
YOU AIN'T NOTHING BUT A HOUND DOG, CRYING ALL THE TIME!!! Elvis's most recognizable song and and American legend, right? Oh yeah, and it was originally recorded by Big Mama Thornton in 1952.
And perhaps one of the most bizare cases was one Johnny Cash recorded such a mournful tune, that seemed to define country and all the problems of his life so well, that we can't think of "Hurt" any other way. But, it was first made by the Industrial Rock giants Nine Inch Nails in 1994.
