Ahhh the good old days when "hit it" was an acceptable step of troubleshooting.
I always considered it a form of displaying dominance to your electronics. The second they go rogue, just smack them. They learn the trick. Electronics these days think they're so damned special and that the world owes them. If you smack them, they crack and then you have to get a new one. I say that's bull. In our day, we used to smack 'em around and they'd learn their damned lesson.
