Not surprising, considering Sakura appeared in Rival Schools.

To be fair, Sakura in RS has a different blood type (which is a defining feature of characters in Japanese media), so it's not that obvious.

Besides, just because a character makes a guest appaereance in another game doens't mean they are placed in the same universe. Rash (Battletoads), The Arbiter (Halo) and General RAAM (Gears of War) are guest characters in Killer Instinct, does that mean that the four franchises take place in the same universe? Of course NOT. The fact they are called GUEST characters should be dead giveaway.
