Akira Nishitani (NIN) revealed the title of ARIKA's "Mysterious Fighting Game" for the PlayStation 4 as Fighting EX Layer.

They also revealed a "new" character.

---

For those out there who are confused about this 'Shirase' character:

Who is Shirase?

The true identity of “Hokuto,” once the bloodline seal placed on her was released. The illegitimate child of the Mizugami Family; to hide her real identity she took the name of Hokuto and jointed the main family. She was brainwashed at infancy and given the mission to kill Kairi, but once the spell wore off, “Hokuto” became no more.

With her final will, she sealed her younger sister Nanase’s memory, so that she could live a life as a normal girl.

The concept of Shirashe's character dates from the era of the EX games. The reason why the Western fandom didn't knew about her until very recently was because most of this stuff was locked away by the language barrier.

Today SF profiles are Hokuto and Bloody Hokuto. The translation was provided by Miðgarðsorm of the SRK forums.

A girl who inherited the blood of Bushin family
and the old art of Mizukamiryū¹.
However, she doesn't adhere to either, fighting with a personal style.
Informed she has an older brother still alive, she embarks on a journey to find him.

"She was the character whose moves inputs changed the most from the development phase.
We had a hard time figuring out her new inputs,
and the adjustment was difficult.
I remember that the programmer
had to do a fine tuning of the camera during her win pose
in order to show her cute face."

¹ "Water God Style".

The rightful successor of the ancient art of Mizukamiryū.
Apparently, her name during childhood was Shirase².
It seems there is a secret behind it...

Basic Info:

Name: Hokuto
Height: 162 cm

Blood type: A

Home Country: Japan
Favorite things: Nothing

The head of the Mizukami family confined in the "Seal of Blood"
the thought "obliterate Kairi".
Fearing the dissolution of the seal, Hokuto transferred the right of succession
to her sister Nanase, and set off on a journey to confront her brother.
The true form of the ancient Mizukamiryū, an assassination art.

Hokuto is actually an illegitimate child, her mother being from the head house and her father from a branch family.
In order to hide this secret,
the head of the family raised her as Kairi's sister.
But the grudge the branch family nursed for its mistreatment
transferred into Shirase under the form of a suggestion,
and in a stormy night, a Shirase possessed by that suggestion
threw Kairi into the sea
from the ship in which he was traveling.³

Even today, we have the comment of our senior colleague!

"I think I'll pass the whole task
of explaining who this character is to the EX Drama CD, lol"

¹ Literally "Hokuto whose Seal of Blood was removed". The mentioned seal is the red mark on her forehead.
² "News of death". A veeeery auspicious name to give to your daughter, absolutely not ominous at all.
³ Well, that's news to me. Rather dark.
