For reference, Ctrl + 0 will reset the zoom level to default.
As for Vista, it definitely wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. A lot of the negative press actually came from the beta (which was awful) but the only real issue I had with it was that it was a bit power hungry and therefore not suited well for laptops. It worked fine on desktops.
