Yep, Hercule is a dub thing, specifically the French and English dub. Something about taking a teen rated series and marketing it at kids, and wanting to avoid the wrath of a couple thousand soccer moms.

In the case of the French dub it was mostly because they named Piccolo Jr "Satan's little heart" (likely in reference to his "father"/creator/original self Demon King Piccolo). When Z came out with a character whose stage name was Mr.Satan the French were like "uh oh, we messed up. What should we do?"
