Not Receiving email Notifications

I've gotten two PMs which I wasn't alerted about and I'm not getting any notifications when someone posts a new reply in a thread I'm subscribed to.

Anyone else having this problem?

I know what's going on, just not how to fix it yet. We switched to Google's SMTP server to try to fix the issue of half of our users not getting activation emails but the account keeps getting locked and then all notifications stop until I go in and unlock it. I'm looking for a solution or alternative now.
