Watched Pitch Perfect for the 1,000th time. I have a weakness/fondness for that movie.

Finally got around to watching The Accountant. It solidifies my thought that Ben Affleck would make a terrific Solid Snake.

Yeah, It was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait for the follow up. I really appreciate them being so tasteful and taking out the bits in the book that were way too disturbing to put on screen. It wasn't scary at all but a darn fun watch and I can't believe how much I laughed.

...I also saw Batman and Harley Quinn, which you can probably tell. Was pretty psyched to see two characters I thought were dead suddenly pop up again after 25 years.

Watched Trick R Treat.

Lousy movie, but I enjoyed it. Sometimes you just want a horror movie that pops off right away and keeps going with the murders.

Rob Paulsen kills it(in a good way) by doing a nice cover of a 50s song with himself.

I'M STILL MAD THE HIGH QUALITY VERSION OF THIS GOT YANKED FROM YOUTUBE. I WAS WATCHING THAT ALL THE TIME.

...Yes. Absolutely. Rob Paulsen's version is even better than the original, I think. It was also so fitting to have them singing since Micky Dolenz, a member of the Monkees, voiced them in the Animated Series. I wonder if they were originally supposed to be dead, they just didn't think they'd be interesting to use again, or lack of availability on Dolenz's end was the reason why they never appeared as Two Face's Henchmen again. 

It really was weird to see them of all characters pop up again.




Catwoman's henchmen from the 60s series sneaking in there was fun too.

So I just finished watching The Accountant.

It was pretty good. It did a good job merging the action and drama aspects of the story into a film that switches back and forth between the two. The acting spot on, and the plot was well constructed.

So I just finished watching Marvel's Doctor Strange.

The casting was really well done, especially Benedict Cumberbatch , who pretty much embodies Doctor Strange. The action has some really well done choreography, I'll say they are better than those of Civil War. The Cinematography/VFX was properly executed as well. Easily one of the best Marvel films around.

I'm gonna watch Thor: Ragnarok tonight, btw!

As promised, here's the mini-review of Thor: Ragnarok + a bonus from today!

Thor: Ragnarok (aka Thor 3): I am quite satisfied with this one. The cast has great chemistry and a moment to shine, my favorite being Tessa Thompson as the hard-drinking Valkyrie. The balance between how serious and funny this movie is supposed to be was properly executed. Easily the best Thor movie so far.

Terminator Genisys: Well, this was quite the interesting experiment. First of all, the CGI in the movie sucked ass, even the special effects in Terminator 4 looked better. The action was well executed; there are multiple chase sequences of varied length and complexities - not bad, but nothing we haven't seen before in other movies. While this version of the Terminator is the most "human" of them all, I do dislike the fact that he still doesn't know how to fight against his fellow "brothers" (which is compesated a bit with his encyclopedic knowledge of quantum physics). I know he didn't get reparations for decades, but come one. Oh yeah, and there's little to no chemistry between Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. The acting in general feels okay-ish. But hey, you can tell that at least they tried... Right? Please tell me that at least they tried.

My final rating of the Terminator movies goes as follows: T2>T1>>>T3>T4>Genesys

Oh yeah, and make sure to stay for the credits of both films.

So this is finally getting made.




Is it bad that the only thing I see wrong with this is the designs of the "Monsters" (if we can call them that)? Lizzie and George I understand. We can exactly have a big green Bipedal lizard and a giant brown ape because copyright reasons, but why is Ralph not a blue werewolf. Kinda disappointing that the monsters aren't mutated humans.

^The main problem with this is that the game series was A PARODY of these big action movies. Hence why they looked cartoony in the video games in the first place. This is just the exact opposite what the series is.

Rampage is going to be glorious in all the wrong ways. Everything about it spews to what could be the forefront of cornball cheesiness.

Batman vs. Two Face.

This was actually pretty bad. Trying to recapture the essence of the 60s show in animated format really doesn’t work. Bookworm was a real treat, but otherwise absolutely everything else fell completely flat. I didn’t laugh at a single joke.

I appreciated there were no fart jokes and was super light on the adult humor. However, they recycled the auction part of The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne from TAS and just how many times are you going to have Batman thwart Two Face by messing with his coin?

Still... RIP Adam West.

Watched two films last night.

War For the Planet of the Apes

93% on Rotten Tomatoes, 9.0 on Metacritic... So when it was suggested last night, I thought "what the hell, it's got amazing reviews." Words cannot describe how vapid and what an absolute turd that movie was. I swear I was watching a different movie to that the reviewers were talking about what with "stunning storylines" and "depth of characters" and "moving action scenes".

The cinematography wasn't even worthy of a first-year film student. The characters were unengaging. The plot went along with absolutely no ties, just hopping from one location to the next. Everything just felt forced, especially with the score that essentially force-fed you the emotion you were supposed to feel. So many tropes were completely overused : Random comic-relief character, the last minute change of mind of a character swiftly followed with their death, the crazy army guy on a crusade, the list goes on.

There was a constant battle between whether there we more completely artificial deus ex machinas or plot holes.
I've only ever walked out of a cinema once, but had I seen this in the theaters, I would have demanded my money back.

I'd rather iron my face than watch that again.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

I'm generally not too much into superhero movies, but Guardians of the Galaxy hit the spot.

It follows the genre, but without the pseudo-serious undertones of other similar movies. The film doesn't take itself seriously, and is entertaining from beginning to end.

The storyline is well thought-out, and the redemption trope (that I mentioned for Planet of the Apes) is actually used correctly with a character you actually feel for.

Great film all around if you like that kind of thing !
