I dont know if anyone even gives a damn about Rare(developer of Banjo and Conker) but here's a recent interview with them. I'm not holding my breathe, but I wish that they would get rescued by Nintendo.

Rare:
Get "rescued" to develop for a dead platform with little to no third party support or playerbase.
or
Stay on a system that has a large playerbase but requests that you make Kinect shovelware.
Either way, Rare isn't in a good position.

It's worth noting that a lot of the developers for games like Conker and Banjo left to form their own studios. Asking for "Rare back now" would be pointless since it's been over 10 years since those people left.

Which is funny considering in the last month alone, Double Helix studios (which is a small team formed from Rare) just released the latest character Spinal for Killer Instinct(on a Microsoft console) with Fulgore and more coming soon. Not only that but they also just released the brilliant Strider for every platform(but the Wii U). I'd also say that Kameo: Elements of Power and Viva Pinata are pretty good games too.
Rare isn't coming back, ever.

Or they could try to be an independent company. Even though that is something that would very much be a gambling move right at this point. Rare is pretty much in a tight crack, and the fact that Microsoft is putting them in that crack isn't helping the company.

Yes. Some of the people who have brought the magic to Rare have left to form their own company. I know that Chris Seavor has his own company. I heard that David wise is working for Retro Studios. while others left to other companies while some have decided to stay at the company. I know that Nintendo and Rare got along quite well(up until the Gamecube days). Ever since the buyout, Microsoft is just making Rare its bitch. No matter what Rare tries to do, Microsoft always steps in and screws it up for Rare. While Rare gets the heat for Microsoft's mistakes.

Kameo was good. Its a shame that Part II never happened though.

Rare could work on the 3DS if given another chance by Nintendo, a platform that could potentially give them a breath of life, I wouldn't mind seeing a Rare platformer on that console, even if they're lost damn near everyone from 10 year ago.

I remember reading about this rare employee who talked about Banjo Three. He said that they showed Microsoft the trailer for it, and had the game some what made, and the executives said it was awful and they wasted their time. They then put them onto a team who were making some sort of driving game but didn't have the characters or story, so they just joined up and gave then Banjo and Kazooie.

Completely agree. But I don't think that the current Rare team are doing anything necessarily wrong. Even though I hate the Kinect, the games that Rare make for them aren't lazy or boring. Actually quite fun with a hint of Rare behind it(obviously the controls are wank). It's not for me but they're far from bad. It just sucks their stuck making Kinect games when people like us would buy a new Conker game in an instant, but as well all know, that's pointless since those guys left. It's up to companies like Double Helix, Free Radical, Crytek UK to make games. Would love a new Timesplitters for 3DS. I don't know how Conkers humour or whether a collectathon game like Banjo-3 would work today though.

Shooter on a DS console? They'd better make use of the Circle Pad Pro. I wouldn't know how to play Resident Evil: Revelations without it. The DS series works pretty well with tank controls (Deadly Silence, Mercenaries 3D) but shooter controls are pretty awful with just the regular DS buttons. Dementium: The Ward is a pretty good example of that. 3DS does have the one circle pad going for it without Pro but I'm not sure how well that would all work with a hectic shooter like Timesplitters.

I meant in the same way the Metroid Prime: Hunters game worked. It worked very well. Resident Evil transitioned well because of it's third person control scheme.

(Slightly off topic but I've just started playing Resident Evil: Revelations on Xbox 360 even though I've had on 3DS since launch.)

It was absolutely pathetic to read that. Duncan was defending a Kinect title like it was all he had left in the world. He said not to say that Rare is dead, but that's just proof that it is. At least the Rare we used to know.

It would be nice to see Nintendo giving Rare a second wind with making Nintendo 3DS games. I know that I spoke with Grant about a Banjo game being on the 3DS. And he said in reply 'I dont see the chance of that happening, but I can imagine that it would be a good idea'. The article is just showing that Microsoft is just making sure that this goes out as 'sugarcoated' when we all know Rare has been screwed with royally.

True but as I stated earlier, even if we did have Rare back, it wouldn't make a difference since it's completely new people. You have to look for the old Rare employees in other games. It's why Killer Instinct on Xbox One is such an incredible game. It feels so much like a Rare game and is just a good fighting game in general. Ken Lobb was the main face for Killer Instinct leading up to it's launch so it's good to see that guy still active. I'd also recommend checking out Strider since that's also made by Double Helix.

I also think that Retro Studios have been faithful to the Donkey Kong series in creating a Rare game while making it their own game at the same time.
Rare are still out there, you just have to look at what the new teams are producing.

Edit: Forgot to mention, A YouTuber by the name of Conker King is uploading videos of Conkers Bad Fur Day. I bring this up because it's channel team is of 3 members that worked on the game. They give a lot of insight into Rare and what they were doing at the time.

IT's also just bloody hilarious the commentary.
