I need ideas for a game to buy my children
#31
Actually, my 360 is not backward compatible and only has 4 gigs (came with a Kinect instead of the extra gigs in a bundle). BUT, I do have the original Xbox. It's actually in my daughter's bedroom. Frees up the teli in the living room.

Depends on her age
Under 6 I suggest a educational game,if she doesn't care for it I suggest any nintendo game
Under 9 I suggest Steamworld Dig,Sonic CD,any classic game or puzzle game. Since your probably posting this from a computer you can buy Sonic CD or any sega genesis game, since the ESRB has age ratings.
If none of those work I suppose you can go back to the classics,I recommend any game without voice-acting,she'll learn no swears. Also check the age rating on the game before letting her or you buy it for her.

Hey uh, Tobu, This thread is a few months old. I don't recommend posting on a thread that's a couple months old unless you got something important to tell. You seem a bit new to Forums, so there's a little advice. I hope this helped a bit.

I agree with both. An educational game is always good for kids and very welcome. If you are geting your kids anything Sonic or Mario and retro, I recumend a bundle. That way they have more than one game to play.

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but he did give some advice of what to get his kids. Grated, he's a little late, but you can always be looking out for gift ideas.

Yeah, you're right. He did give some rather useful advice. I can't really blame him either. He is a bit new, and I made the same mistake when I was new.

I wouldn't really call it a mistake. There's always something to look for. She likes Minecraft on the 360, Creative mode. Once I get my internet and phone lines transferred to my new place, I'm gonna download Majora's Mask and maybe Ocarina of Time on my Wii. She likes Zelda and plays MM that I downloaded on her Wii at her mom's house. She's too young to understand the theory about the 5 stages of grief, just fascinated that they're is a moon about to fall on a fictional town. Thanks for the input.

I'd also say get her into some interesting RPG's. Not the super mainstream ones that everyone plays, but not the stupidly obscure ones that are usually mediocre.

Paper Mario and Paper Mario: TTYD are pretty good RPG's I played Paper Mario back when I was about 10 and loved it to bits, it was a brilliant game, and you can tell I have it on my mosaic. I loved it that much. I hear TTYD was good, or even better but I never played it so I wouldn't know.

Chrono Trigger is a really cool game as well, if you can find it for DS, it goes for about £40, so I guess 60$? That is a game I can call an adventure, several time periods to travel too and interesting characters, music and combat. Although there is a lot of talking involved, so it may be difficult if she just wants mindless fun instead of story, same with Paper Mario but not as much.

Also, if you have a DS/3DS you should check out some of the simple rhythm games on there, if she wants to play something different. Rhythm Heaven is a really fun and simple game, it could be an Iphone game and it would not change one bit. Here's an example of the first stage and Rhythm Thief for the 3DS, there is a bit of reading as well, but it's really fun as well. Just check the example of one of the stages, you can get the demo for free as well if you have a 3DS.

You're a good Dad dude, I want to let my child play some good video games when they're growing up as well. Just make sure she doesn't get obsessed over them.

Yea, the paper Mario games are excellent first RPG games, simple and easy to play.

When I was little, I always LOVED Nintendo, especially Zelda. Get the real deal, though (I am very pro-original and anti-downloaded classics). You can find used SNES' and N64s for pretty cheap these days. Or even an original NES. Bump n Jump was a racing game I played when I was her age. I also think that Mario Kart 64 is the most fun (with the SNES version in a close second).

I have 1 (gold cartridge - damaged) and 2 (gold cartridge - damaged)(got both for under $5 combined on eBay), and LttP, a NES and SNES (pictures to come later since I found out how to post them, just about half a year late). Need to find RF adaptors. Both of mine are bad. I had OoT and Gold Edition of MM but didn't give it much thought when I asked my sister to put them in a yard sale (I left her my 64 when I moved out since I quit playing it). I'm slowly getting it back.

Don't get RF adapters for anything apart from the NES (hell you can even get a RCA cable and just use Yellow and White) since it'll make games look horrible on TV's.

Try and find some Composite or S-Video games, or even some RGB cables. It'll be a much better experience if you can see what you're doing and looking at, rather than a blurry mess.

You can usually find them online for cheap. Fun Fact, Nintendo have been using the same connection for the Snes, N64, Gamecube and (I think) the Wii. Meaning that you can buy the same connection twice and use it for the different consoles, hell if you still have your gamecube you can just use that connection for the TV.

Yeah, I had sold all of my stuff in my early 20's when I needed some money :/ I've slowly been getting it back too. I have an ok collection going now, and I think I have all of the gold cartridges again.
