The Free Gaming Thread v2 : Electric Boogaloo
As a regular on SDA and having been able to attend two GDQs/run a game in one, SDA is not a WR site. The Sonic Center IS the place for Sonic records.
Good job mate.
The future is now.

Yeah I think I'm good on that one. I can seriously do without.

I actually thought it was someone who made a sex machine which utilised the Oculus. It looks like it.

Now it makes sense....
Anybody ever use an AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable? It was suggested to me to record some playthroughs from my PS3. I've read and seen a bunch of good reviews, but most of the in-depth reviews were from people who received a review device from AverMedia; this makes them suspect.
One guy even said, "AverMedia sent me this to review, so I'm going to do a completely unbiased and fair video review about this fantastic, unbeatable device." Subtle.
Just want to know what people thought of it, if anyone used it.

Same goes for the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket Portable HD Game Recorder, if anyone has used it, too/instead.

I stream with an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable. I also used to stream with the Hauppaguge. I felt that I got better quality with the Hauppage, but it broke within a week of me getting. Also, Avermedia is much more reasonably priced. Go Avermedia.

I've read that I need to get an extra cable for PS3 usage, because of the HDCP or something along those lines it just causes an error message.  But I also read that a firmware update fixed that; I also read that same firmware update made the thing not work properly with the drivers.

Any difficulty on your end setting it up or was it basically just as simple as they make it out to be?

I'm not looking to be making Hollywood quality Let's Plays or anything, and I already have a set up for my PC in the office upstairs.  I do the occasional game or movie review on my site, but I can't do anything with console games because my console capture device is so old the company that made it doesn't even exist anymore and the drivers are not compatible with anything higher than Windows 2000 (and even then it prefers a good 'ol 98 set up).  I can't get gameplay video/audio or screenshots.

I use Roxio Game Capture personally. I've also heard good things  from people I watch on YouTube and Twitch but they are also sponsored :/

To disable HDCP you need an additional component; a HDMI splitter.  Sony being Sony won't disable the HDCP BS so you'll need to get one of these.
I've found a video of a guy who is using this set up with Avermedia.

Personally I think Avermedia is a safe bet.
I only stream old consoles (the joys of speedrunning), so I take component, split the signal and then convert one of those to HDMI to stream. The second feed goes to a CRT.
I don't own any new consoles, so I have never messed with PS3 streaming.
I looked at the Roxio a while ago, but my problem is that my consoles are all on the first floor and my office and computer are on the second floor. I can't use anything that has to be plugged into a computer to record. That's why I was looking at the AM portable or the Hauppage PVR Pocket.
At best I could hook it up to my laptop, but it's several years old and not on par with a modern gaming or movie-making laptop, for sure.
But thanks to both of you for the good info and leads.
Of the 34 submissions I currently have in the queue, 4 of them aren't Blizzard properties.
The others are for Skullgirls, Unreal Tournament 3, Cities: Skylines, and Fallout as a series.

Of the 51 now. I couldn't sleep.
Skies of Arcadia was released 15 years ago today.

Here's hoping for a sequel/HD port.
