Requirements for the Shameless Self Promotion thread?
#1
On The Resource, there are requirements before you can post in the request sub-forum. It doesn't happen all that often, but I've noticed that we get a few people once in a while that just plug their business or blog, etc. into the shameless and never post again. That doesn't really help anything does it?

I've noticed that as well. Something like the Resource has should be implemented, but most of it is posted in the Creative Discussion I believe and it wouldn't be fair to new users that want to post their artwork and such if they have to wait, for example, a month and 20 posts, like The Resource has. It also isn't convenient to simply create a new sub-forum for advertisements, either, as it would potentially draw more of this or spam itself. It's a difficult thing to restrict.

I'm referring specifically to the one thread. If someone's showing off their art or something, cool we can see their art, and if we like it then great, sure, bring more. Its just those people that post once and run that bug me.

I agree that I don't like it either. Maybe a requirement of 10 posts to make them get involved with the forum before posting there would be fair? I honestly feel like deleting advertisement posts of people who only joined to do that and then take off.

This is really the only available course of action. There is no way to restrict posting to a single thread based on any criteria so removing posts that don't adhere to any potential future standards is the only way to handle it regardless.

Went through and pruned it a bit. I'll leave funnyman's post alone for a little while to give him a chance to come back and join the forum, otherwise I'll get rid of that one as well. It isn't right for people to use it as a spamming ground.

I agree with what's been said so far. It's frustrating.
