Bleed - an indie 2D arcade game with slow down and dashing mechanics. This is a pretty unheard of game that was greenlit on Steam, and it is PHENOMENAL. It's just SO fun. It keeps getting more awesome, and is really unique. Check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/239800/

I just found and played Heavy Metal Geomatrix on Dreamcast. My god, how did I not know about this game? So gooooood. It's a weird mix of a brawler, a fighter and a shooter and plays so goddamn smooth.

Monkey Puncher.

A game starring Kenta who is strong and can go to school, and his sister Sumire who is better than boys! They lost their mother and lived with their father who was a monkey trainer, one day the latter was kidnapped by the evil Saru corporation and Saru tried to use Mind control to make the father join them as they owned the Monkey Puncher Organisation and the only way to save them is to train a monkey and fight them at the Monkey 1 Grand Prix Tournament.

Once Kenta starts out he thinks to himself "How am I going to train a monkey I do not have" and at that moment a weird hobo wizard walks in by the name of Fred and gives him a monkey called Freddy!

I used to play this game tons back as a kid since we didn't have a lot of GB games besides Pokémon and Mario, so anything different was a change but holy hell, even back then I knew this game was badly translated and just terribly hilarious. But I still love it. I remember you could send the monkey to the store with a list, and he'd come back with the exact things you wanted and you could scold it for no apparent reason other than to have a laugh.

I could never beat the first monkey since training was a literal myth and half way through the fighting both the monkies would lose stamina halfway through and just stand there like fat out of breath monkeys taking swings at each other a minute, until my monkey lost.

I'll second that.  Winback was a great game...even if the voice acting was a little dry and at times, downright, shoddy.  I believe they made a sequel...or it might have been a prequel for the PS2 and x-box, even, I can't remember; Project Poseidon or something like that.  Never played the second one.

No game has taken more of my time, in my life, than Mount & Blade.  I played the original, played Warband, played bunch of mods for both of them (can you guess that my favorite is Gekokujo for Warband?), and am salivating for the release of M&B 2: Bannerlord.

I will also have to find this Monkey Puncher game somewhere, it looks both adorable and hilarious.

Would alien hominid count as obscure? I haven't found anyone who's familiar with the game outside of the internet.

Unsure. I know of it since I've seen it years ago and on Castle Crashers.

I remember when Alien Homonid was just a Newgrounds game. I could never beat it.

One of my favorite GBC games is Captain Bluebear - The Crazy Treasure Hunt ( Käpt'n Blaubär - Die verrückte Schatzsuche). As far as I know it was only released in Germany, so I would count that as obscure.
It's a simple puzzle game. You walk around and try to collect all the stars in a level. When you have all of them the exit opens. The tricky part about this is that the tiles with the stars turn into water when you step on them, so you can only walk on a star tile once. The game starts as simple as it can get but gets quite difficult later on. Planning a route in your head is necessary to succeed. Have I mentioned the music is good? No? The music is good.

If you are interrested and want to take a look before playing the game yourself, then watch this video:
It's a short TAS I made as a joke for April Fool's Day 2014. I used a password to skip to the last level, so only the last level is shown.

If Persona 4: Dancing All Night becomes obscure count it on my list. I think it's incredibly fun.

Has anyone ever hear (let alone, played) a game called Primal? ........ Didn't think so. I wouldn't say I love the game but it's a fun Ps2 game.

I know of that game but I never played it. My mom wouldn't buy it for me because she thought it looked too dark. I've always wanted to try it.

Well it kinda is, but it's mostly in the Wraith realm. My counter argument is that it's a M-rated game about demons with a hard rock soundtrack by 16Volt (which I will admit, not my cup of tea when it comes to music), so it's going to be a little more dark. It's a fun game with with some fun characters and interesting designs for each of the realm's creatures.

Many of SNKs titles count as this, although I have a soft spot for Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. The characters themselves, the design, OST... I mean, many things, you know?

Both franchises gets its due from hardcore fighting game fans (specially Garou MOTW, which was the last title in the Fatal Fury series.... which ended on a cliffhanger and people are still waiting for a sequel). However, gamers in general don't even know it exists, and even those who do believe the characters came from King of Fighters, which is not true.

I found about this thread becaue I cheked DrakeVagabond's post history.

It's actually funny that this thread got bumped now, because I was actually just starting a game I never heard anyone talk about called Bonds of the Skies. It's a very typical late 80's or 90's RPG where the village the main protagonist lives in is burned down by a demon, but from there it's kind of like SMT meets Golden Sun with an appearance like Chrono Trigger. I wouldn't want to say it's as good as any of those games if only to not get people's hopes up, but I enjoy the hell out of it. It's on 3DS for 10 bucks if anyone wants to try it.
