Top games of the year
#1
When I made this thread last year, a lot of people didn't have 10 games to choose from, so let's just all do our own top lists. Knowing that I've missed a lot of the games that are likely to be at the top this year, my list is not only subject to change, but it's also fairly RPG oriented.

10. Tales of Symphonia HD Chronicles
9. Final Fantasy HD Remaster
8. Destiny
7. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
6. Tales of Xillia 2
5. Super Smash Brothers (3DS)
4. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix
3. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright
2. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
1. Fantasy Life

Like I said, very heavy on the RPG's, also a lot of that HD going on, but once I get a PS4 and get a crack at games like Far Cry. Alien Isolation, Shadow of Mordor and a few others, I could see a couple of these getting booted out or switched around. That's what I have for now though, so what about the rest of you? What are your favorite games of 2014?

7. Shovel Knight

2. Super Smash Bros 3DS.

There are actually several games on this list I want to try but three of them are on Wii U so I'm SOL on that for now.

8. Rogue Legacy
7. Pokemon Alpha Saphire/Pokemon Omega Ruby
6. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
5. Hyrule Warriors

4. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z (PS Vita)
3. Final Fantasy X HD Remaster (PS3, PS Vita)

Looking at this list I think I should probably boot out Bravely Default and push the other three games past each down a slot for Link Between worlds.

I haven't played any new games this year apart from WWE 2K15 and NBA 2K15. Hated the wrestling game and the NBA game was meh. Wow! I'm wayyyyy behind.

I don't feel right making a list of the best games this year when I haven't even played all of the ones I've bought. I guess Walking Dead Season 2 would still be the first one.

Makes sense. I felt awkward making my list when there are still several games I want to play that I haven't yet.

I actually didn't play too much this past year, just going to rattle a few off in no particular order.

1. Smite. Great game, tons of fun and far more action packed than other mobas out there.

2. South Park: The Stick of Truth. Funniest game ever made, with elements from my favorite RPG ever made.

3. Smash Bros. Great party game with a fun new actual party gamemode.

4. Risk of Rain. Technically released in late 2013, but I started it in the spring and hot damn is this game addictive. Phenomenal game with an enormous emphasis on teamwork and customization. It provides an engaging challenge without kicking you in the balls, and uses randomness well to encourage exploration and strategy.

5. Binding of Issac Rebirth. Far from a simple reskin, fixes a ton of problems with the original while only adding a few new ones. Personally, I dislike some of the new design choices, but it still draws you in and spits your shivering carcass out.

6. Shadow of Mordor. Visceral fun that, for the most part, cuts the crap and keeps you at gear 10 for the whole game.

7. Savant Ascent. A killer mobile app without much depth, but is crazy fun to play. Check it out.

8. Hand of Fate. Still in early access, but 100% playable. A really interesting take on the Arkham combat style with some incredible atmosphere. Play at night with the lights off for optimal fairy taleness.

9. Lovely Planet. The most frustrating flower game I've ever played. Keeps your interest with consistently interesting levels and great core mechanics.

10. Titanfall. While plagued with poor design choices, the core mechanics of the game feel great with a fast paced movement system and satisfying shooting mechanics.
