Weekly Question (Week 11)
#76
In some cases modding the game can actually improve it to the point of playability. Stalker is a good example of this. If I never put the ZRP mod on I apparently would've had to deal with quests I couldn't complete, AI that barely functions and more glitches than ever. With the ZRP mod it nullified these to a large extent.

For other games, like L4D2. I'll mod it so it feels like my game. So for example. Nick is Phoenix Wright and Rochelle is Maya. The Desert Eagle is a Gold Revolver, and in general a lot of the weapons have been changed to look more realistic and interesting. I have also made the game somewhat easier by making the health kits and pills a bright glowing yellow colour so I can see them if they're in a dark place.

Well, for me I'll mod a game to the point that it's Vanilla with sprinkles.

All natural just seems like a dirty way of putting it. That being said, it depends on the game. Fallout? Yes. Skyrim? Sure. Scribblenauts? Encouraged by the devs. Civilization? Maybe I can discover the UI. BattleBlock? I might swap a head or two. CS:GO? Encouraged by devs. CS:S? Sure. Garry's Mod? Id you insist. Payday 2? Hoxhud. Rogue Legacy? Nah.

See, the problem I personally have is that I sometimes enjoy messing around with mods more than the games I'm modding. Skyrim in particular is very boring for me.

I saying no to mods for two reasons. One, I don't own a pc that can game that well so I don't play a lot of games that get mods, and two, I've seen a lot of mods played on youtube, and most of them don't really interest me. There are a few that look fun here and there, but for the most part, I just don't care that much.

For many games modding a game just ruins the value of the gameplay to me. If the game's main aspect is to be modded then by all means I'll pick a mod and play using it. Otherwise I like to play it as is without any alterations.

This. A thousand times this.
Barring the fact that my computer ain't the best thing ever, most mods look cool, but honestly, I'd be darned if i would bother to install them. They just don't hold my attention very much.

Depends depends.
Mods can make single player more enjoyable. DMC4 has some amazing mods on PC for example.
Other mods let you be creative. Fighting game mods like Project M are frikkin' huge. Plus custom skins etc just adds to the over all.
Some mods let you micromanage with ease. WoW is a good example of having addons to manage your gameplay better.
And sometimes fuck it, I just wanna cheat and no.clip through Doom.

(I'm probably the worst poster in this thread since all I do is sit on the fence)

I find it interesting how close the poll is this week. Every other week has been very one sided but this time people are really on the fence about this one.

Out of these, my choice is obviously Nintendo. It has always held a special place in my heart. Nintendo has a nostalgia factor nothing else can compare to. Not to mention I have always loved the gameplay in my games. They stay true to themselves, while simultaneously giving us new and fun games. And always do their best to give us fans what we want.

Without a doubt Nintendo, I started with Nintendo and I've always stuck with Nintendo. The other 3 are great in their own right, but you really can never go wrong with Nintendo.

The Playstation 2 is my favrate system Evar. So you would assume that I would say Playstation right?

WRONG. I've lost hope with Sony ever since they've shown that a group of monkeys could do a better job at doing everything. I would say that Xbox would be my favrate, even though the WiiU seems to be doing better.  My idea going into this idea is how well do the games hold up the sestem. The WiiU has some good games, but first party can only go so far. Nintendo seems to just care about gimmicks more then games now adays.

Spoiler:Also, I wanted to play Devil's advicat. I really don't care about any of the systems. I would pick up a WiiU if it wasn't for Kingdom Hearts III.

I'm with Serious on this one. Nintendo due to the nostalgia.
